If you ever visit Sóc Sơn and want to find a place that feels both cozy and close to nature to enjoy food, then you shouldn’t miss Mộc Quán. I had a memorable evening here with my friends, and now I’ll share my review with you.
The space is covered with bamboo, wood, and greenery, combined with soft yellow lights, giving a warm and relaxing feeling. Wooden tables and chairs, bamboo lamps hanging high, and the sound of water from the koi pond made me feel like I was stepping away from the noisy city and back to old peaceful memories.
The highlight is the huge koi pond with colorful fish: orange, red, white, black… Above are trees with green shade, below are fish swimming around. Just looking at it made me feel calm. This space is perfect for anyone who wants a “chill” place after a long day. The restaurant also has a play area with a ball house for kids, so families with children can feel safe.
Kids can play while adults enjoy their meal. We went with 6 people and had a full meal. The total cost was about 2 million VND (around 80 USD), including soft drinks like cocoa and orange juice. Beer and wine we brought ourselves. Note: if you don’t order soft drinks from the restaurant, they will charge an extra fee. Here’s what we ordered: - Stir-fried pigeon: Tender and sweet meat, cooked just right, keeping its natural flavor. Seasoning was perfect, great with white rice. - Grilled chicken: Well-marinated, crispy skin, soft juicy meat inside. The aroma of lime leaves and spices made it very tasty. - Baby bok choy with mushroom sauce: Fresh green vegetables, crispy and sweet, combined with rich mushroom sauce. Everyone at the table loved it.
- Beef salad with cucumber, carrot, and banana flower: A refreshing appetizer with sweet and sour balance, plus crunchy peanuts. Very tasty.
- Fried sticky rice with pigeon: My favorite dish! Crispy outside, soft sticky rice inside mixed with rich pigeon meat. Crunchy, fragrant, and unforgettable.
- Pork-stuffed duck tail: Crispy golden outside, soft minced meat with Vietnamese herbs inside. Flavorful and unique.
- Grilled sparrow: A simple but well-made dish. Fragrant grilled sparrow with crispy skin, you can even eat the bones.
- Grilled squid with satay: Perfect for seafood lovers! Fresh squid, grilled just right, still crunchy. Spicy satay sauce made it a “best-seller” at the table.
- French fries: Simple but well done. Golden and crispy, not soggy. Great with chili sauce. In short: every dish was delicious. The restaurant is especially good at pigeon dishes and seafood, so I’d love to come back and try more. Another big plus is the service. The staff were always available, friendly, and very helpful. The table was kept clean, dishes were replaced quickly, and we never had to wait long.
With a price of about 2 million for 6 people (just over 300k per person), I think this is a very good choice. Mộc Quán is not just a restaurant, but a place where you can enjoy a full evening: good food, relaxation, and fun.
