Review Cafe – Milk Tea 91 (Chin Mot)

Some coffee shops I go because friends tell me, some I see on the internet, and some I go just by accident. And shop 91 (Chin Mot) is one of them.😅

That day I went to eat fish noodle soup in a familiar place, then when I walked out, I saw right next door a small cafe – milk tea shop, the sign with number 91 looked very simple. To be honest, at first I did not expect much, I just thought maybe it is another normal shop, selling some basic milk tea only. But because I saw it, I decided to try. Maybe I could find a new shop I like.

First impression from outside, the shop looks normal, even a bit boring compared to other milk tea shops in the same street. The sign is not big, decoration outside also nothing special. If you don’t look carefully, you may walk past.

But when I stepped inside, it was different. The shop decoration is modern – minimal style, not too much, but clean and tidy. Walls are light color, wooden tables and chairs are simple, the light makes the place bright and not heavy. The shop is not big, but they arrange tables well, so it feels comfortable.

The good thing is, even the shop is small, it does not feel crowded. I think this is a plus for people who just want a quick stop, quiet enough to rest.

I looked at the menu, they have many drinks: milk tea, fruit tea, coffee, and juice. Price is around 25,000 – 35,000 VND for one 700ml cup. This price is common now, not cheap but not expensive.

Because I wanted to try something new, I ordered one soursop milk tea. I usually drink soursop tea but never tried soursop milk tea before. When I got my drink, I was surprised because the soursop was a lot and very fresh. The taste was sweet, good smell, and a bit chewy.

But the black pearls (boba) were a big minus. When I ate, they were hard, not chewy, felt like kept too long in fridge. I think the shop cooked them before and stored, not fresh cooked. This made the experience not so good, because pearls should be soft and chewy, then milk tea is “good to drink.”

About the milk tea part, honestly, nothing special. When I shook it, the tea and milk mixed too fast, like made with milk powder. The taste became normal, nothing impressive. If they used fresh milk, I believe it would be more natural and creamy.

With price 35,000 VND for 700ml, I think okay for a new shop. But if compare to other milk tea shops in the street, shop 91 does not have clear difference. The drink is not bad, but also not strong enough to make me remember or come back often.

If I talk about the strong point, I will say menu is diverse and they use fresh soursop – which is rare. But the weak point is pearls and milk tea recipe not unique.

I think with good space and the friendly shop owner, 91 is good for people who want a quick place, quiet and simple to sit. But to become a favorite shop, maybe not yet. In this area, I know many milk tea and coffee shops that do better with taste and style.

For me, after this experience, maybe I will come back to try other drinks like fruit tea or juice, maybe they are better than milk tea. But if only about soursop milk tea, I give around 6/10 points.🙃 📸 ### Review, content, picture by me @a-alice. Thanks for reading!😁
