Review Chill Coffee – A simple place, with some changes

Hi, I’m Alice, and today I visited a small drink shop in Soc Son. I came back to the gate of my old high school, the place that reminds me of many memories from my teenage years. Chill Coffee is a small drink shop next to Soc Son High School. I used to go there before. The old style of the shop was very natural, with lots of trees and green space. It felt cool and peaceful. It looked like a garden not fancy, but it had its own charm. I liked that style because it felt close to nature.

Now, the shop has changed. They renovated it to have air conditioning, and the space looks more modern. Tables and chairs are orange, and the lights are bright. It feels more clean and comfortable, especially inside with the AC. But for me, the old feeling is gone. The shop looks nicer, but it has no special vibe anymore. It’s like many other cafes now – nothing unique.

The location of the shop is very good and busy. It is in a prime spot, just next to the school gate, and opposite a big square. The new road in front of the shop is wide and clean, which makes the area more beautiful. In the evening, the shop is often very crowded, especially with students and young people. The location helps the shop get many customers, even on weekdays.

There are two spaces to sit: outside and inside. The outside has low tables and floor cushions – good for people who want to relax. The inside is quieter and cooler, with aircon and tables and chairs. I sat inside because I wanted to enjoy the cool air.

The drink menu is quite long – maybe 50 drinks. They have juice, coffee, milk tea, and some fruit tea. I ordered a matcha oat milk. The drink looked nice – green matcha on top and white milk below. When I mixed it and drank it, the taste was very good. The matcha was fragrant and not cheap quality. The oat milk was thick and creamy. I liked the taste.

But I was a bit disappointed because the price was 35,000 VND, and there was no topping. I thought maybe it came with white pearl or boba popping balls, but it didn’t. I think this price is a bit high for a drink with no toppings. If they added something, it would feel more worth it.

The shop only has about 8 milk tea options, like: oolong lotus, oolong jasmine with pearls, brown sugar fresh milk, chocolate mint, matcha pandan and matcha oat milk. Not many choices, but each drink has its own taste. I haven’t tried all yet, only the matcha oat milk.

The average price is from 25,000 to 40,000 VND, depending on what you order and if you add toppings.

The fruit tea menu has some interesting choices like: mint lychee tea, mango lemon tea, kiwi green tea, peach orange lemongrass, peach cinnamon, and grapefruit longan tea. I saw they also have “cóc rim đác” which sounds fun to try.

One thing I like is that they use real fruits in most drinks, not artificial syrup. That makes the drinks more fresh and healthy. The menu is not super long, but they care about ingredients.

In short, Chill Coffee is still a good place to stop by. The new space is clean and modern, and the drinks are fresh. But for people like me who remember the old garden-style, it feels a bit sad. The old soul of the shop is not there anymore. Still, it’s a nice spot if you want to sit, relax, and have a cold drink in Soc Son.
