Minimalist Lifestyle: The Switch From A Three Bedroom Apartment To A Single Room Apartment.

Many times, when I think about how one has to live their life, it baffles me that we can't foresee what will happen to us in a couple of hours. I have watched movies where they showed what it is to live and know what will happen in the future, but all of them just happen to be far from reality.  While growing up, I lived with my parents, and as a kid, one is left with no choice but to adjust to what our parents offer us; they tend to be our benefactors, and we are so reliant on them.  ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmQuTNnj2QjJutpXAj8NhCHNSVEfhKbUSRGRWMHeGV1iyg/img_2383.png) The life we had to live back then was just like being entangled with a pseudo-existence. To some of us, it might have seemed much more luxurious than what we got, and some just prefer the freedom they got with the little things.  *** Relocation is one thing that changes a man. We relocated at some point in my life, and ever since then, my life has never been the same as before. It was like I got exposed to a lot of things I never knew. The world is actually a large place; you can only tell what is within your immediate surroundings. The more you explore, the more you know.  Before relocating, we lived in a comfortable apartment, which was a two-bedroom flat with a fenced compound. We are all alone. That sense of privacy and security came from it. Yet that was the best life we could live then.  Hardly did we see apartments that aren’t fenced. So you are just to live within your reach.  Ten years into such a lifestyle, we had to relocate, everything changed completely, the two-bedroom flat we comfortably lived in switched to a room apartment. And then the fenced area was nowhere to be found. Adjusting to the new lifestyle was something so difficult at first, but with time, we got used to it.  Mum had to practice a minimalist lifestyle again. I had the thought that what and how she will cope with all of these properties we had, they would fill up a room, not to mention giving space for us.  ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmUnNg8G4sdTd38JcNqfkFUKCSiwLxmrXGj8bfrt8vCNC8/img_2381.png) She had to let go!. It was right in front of me. She placed priorities on all of the stuff, incinerated some, and gave most of them out to people. We only took the ones we needed along with us. They were able to properly fit into the new apartment.  *** ## My very similar experience.  That was something I never wished for, though at some point, we might be left with no choice. When I got to the university, I lived with my brother in my first year, then after he graduated, I had to find shelter elsewhere.  I rented a four-bedroom flat with three other coursemates. We had a central parlor and a kitchen too. Everyone was so free with their lifestyle, and it went on that way for about three years. A few months into my final year, we were given a quit notice.  ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmagFCsLBgPWvavp8qZsRroYEnFDYo6viN6NFrc13uFRwj/img_2382.png) I had to urgently find a new apartment for the few months I had left. Then the available space I saw was not even up to a room, and extremely small. At first, I declined, but after several considerations, I accepted the offer. I had to let go of a lot of my belongings.  All I took into the new apartment was just my cooking gas, a few plates, my bed, and my box of clothes. Every other thing was decluttered.  ***
