I Never Want to Grow up

If I had one wish right now, I'd wish to never grow up,which may be ironic because when I was small all I wanted was to grow up.It may sound absurd but your childhood just goes so fast that you don't even realize that you are grown. Growing up slowly sneaks up on you and you are usually caught of guard by how it happened. You are no longer that girl that begs her dad to tell her a folklore and get scared after listening to it or the girl who thinks her siblings were her only enemies or that girl who thinks the worst pain in the world were skinned knees or that girl that ask her dad to tie her shoes. 1000002807.png I was such a cutie 🥰

The gap between childhood and adulthood is so small, that ur childhood feels like a distant memory. One moment you are running around shirtless without a care in the world and the next thing, you are off to college, off to that new job, off to your new house and the biggest problems you could have was your ABCs and Multiplication Table but now you are burdened with choices that could affect your whole future.

When the only drug you knew was cough medicine and the only thing you was scared of were monsters under your bed. When your innocence was still intact and the only protection you knew was a helmet, wars only meant stupid games, and the days you looked forward to the most were birthdays and holidays and your definition of enjoyment is having more than one snack combo.

The worst part is slowly saying goodbye to things that once gave you joy. The plays you would put on with your friends, singing along to your favorite cartoon's theme song with the remote as your microphone. Just saying goodbye to the carefree life. It's crazy because the only thing goodbye meant to you was "until tomorrow". 1000091753.jpg

But growing up is understanding that grown ups don't always have the answers and now you know that because you don't have all the answers too. It's noticing that your mom is not as strong as she was and your dad is getting older. It's understanding that it's okay to not have yourself together, that it's okay to miss your mom's warm embrace and be comforted.

Although we grow past our childhood, it never really leaves us; there's always some little thing that reminds us of our childhood. It's always a part of us. Growing up is painful and sometimes sad, but we need to grow to get to new heights; it also teaches us how to cherish those little moments before they become fleeting memories.
