Here's a new series of collaborations from the Barcelona-based brewery Garage Beer Co. This time, it features four collaborations with breweries from Argentina, Australia, Japan, and Scotland.
The one I'm showing you today is the one I was least drawn to because of the style, but not because of the collaborating brewery. It's a Fruit IPA brewed side by side with the masters of modern sour beers, Vault City Brewing. These Scottish guys have taken the sour style to another level, creating unlikely blends in a beer with praiseworthy results.
The beer, as I said, is a Fruit IPA. As a lover of hops and the bitter, powerful flavors of IPAs, I find these styles unbearable. The fruit chosen this time is lime. But... Ohhh, surprise! I was fascinated by the result. The lime has been used judiciously and sparingly, providing a refreshing, acidic note that pairs well with the India Pale Ale style. The finish is closer to the flavor of the peel than the fruit's own juice.
A very interesting and refreshing beer with a 7% ABV that goes completely unnoticed.
This pack of four collaborations, which I'll be showcasing here, is a great start.
