A couple of months ago, someone commented on a post I made in another community, telling me that my short story Mississipi had a high AI content.
I'm a writer, and to top it off: a science fiction and fantasy writer, so I'm familiar with AI and have been working on it for years. However, I respect my profession and my art too much to stoop so low as to rely on an AI to write a story.
In fact, I'd have to work twice as hard, since after writing the prompt for the story, I'd have to read it and rewrite it to match my style, my essence.
It wouldn't be my story. Everyone who knows me would know. And that would be my funeral as a writer. I think it would be the worst shame of my life. Just imagining it makes my chest tighten. And I don't even have GPT Chat or anything like that on my phone. The only AI I use is the one on my phone and Canva, to generate or edit images.
When I asked him what he based such an accusation on, he told me it was an app... essentially, an AI that detects other AIs. How ironic!
Yeah, just that. It detected it without explaining the reasons. One possibility was to use a translation program... which doesn't make sense that it seems like AI in one language and not in another. The evidence is in the case of one of my wife @elviguitarra's recent posts. After posting in two languages (Spanish and English), as we usually do, a moderator asked me to please edit his post because it had a high percentage of AI, according to the zerogpt website.
The moderator, a person known to us, knew we wouldn't be able to do it, but the AI detected it that way, and the Ecency platform could detect it as well.
Apparently, some curators are guided more by what an AI says than by their own judgment.
I know all this because my wife isn't familiar with these editing issues and told me so. I helped her correct that 94.67% AI.

With these corrections alone, the entire text went through the same AI as before, going from 94.67% to 5.23%, in both languages…
In fact, if I run only the Spanish text, the AI presence drops to 0.00%.
Therefore, it's proven that the use of these AIs makes no sense, as they are inaccurate. They produce too many false positives.
My conclusion from this whole issue is that the moderators and curators of #Ecency, and of #Hive in general, shouldn't rely solely on these applications to determine whether a text is written by an AI or not.
How to do it?
I have no idea. It's not my job. My job is to write.
I only know that the way they're doing it now doesn't work. My insult in that community with my story was huge. This time, it wasn't, as my wife and the curator knew each other and only asked for the edit for mutual benefit and to comply with the established rules. And we're not the only ones who've been through this, I'm sure. That has to change.
This post is not meant to criticize any specific community or curator. The evidence I present is meant to validate my comments. My criticism is the unjustified and erroneous use of these AIs to detect the use of AIs.

Hace un par de meses, me realizaron un comentario a una publicación que hice en otra comunidad, donde me decían que mi cuento Mississipi tenía un alto contenido de IA.
Yo soy escritor, para colmo: de Ciencia Ficción y Fantasía, por lo que conozco el tema de las IAs y lo vengo tratando desde hace años. Sin embargo, respeto demasiado mi profesión y mi arte como para caer tan bajo como para apoyarme en una IA para realizar un cuento.
Es que, de hecho, pasara el doble de trabajo, ya que luego de escribir el prompt del cuento, tendría que leerlo y reescribirlo para que tenga mi estilo, mi esencia. No sería mi cuento. Todos los que me conocen lo sabrían. Y ese sería mi funeral como escritor. Creo que sería la peor vergüenza de mi vida. Solo de imaginarlo me aprieta el pecho. ¡Y yo que no tengo ni Chat GPT ni nada de eso en mi teléfono. La única IA que utilizo es la del celular y la de Canva, para generar imágenes o editarlas.
Cuando le pregunté en qué se basaba para tal acusación, me dijo que en una aplicación… o sea, en esencia, una IA que detecta a otras. ¡Qué ironía!
Ya, solo eso. Lo detectaba y sin explicar las causas. Una posibilidad era la de utilizar un programa para traducir… cosa que no tienen lógica que en un idioma parezca IA y en otro no. La evidencia está en el caso de una de las publicaciones recientes de mi esposa @elviguitarra. Luego de publicar en dos idiomas (español e inglés), como habitualmente hacemos, un moderador pidió que, por favor, editara su publicación porque tenía un alto porcentaje de IA, según la página zerogpt.
El moderador, persona conocida por nosotros, sabe que seríamos incapaces de hacerlo, pero la IA lo detectaba así y la plataforma de Ecency podría detectarlo también.
La parecer, algunos curadores se guían más por lo que dice una IA que por su propio criterio.
Sé todo esto porque mi esposa no conoce de estos temas de edición y me lo dijo. Yo la ayudé a corregir ese 94.67% de IA.

Solo con esas correcciones, el mismo texto completo pasó por la misma IA de antes y de un 94.67% de IA, pasó a un 5.23%, en ambos idiomas…
De hecho, si paso solo el texto en español, la presencia de IA baja a 0.00%.
Por tanto, queda demostrado que el uso de estas IAs no tiene sentido alguno, ya que no son nada acertadas. Dan demasiados falsos positivos.
Mi conclusión de todo este tema es que los moderadores y curadores de #Ecency, de #Hive en general, no deberían guiarse solo por estas aplicaciones para determinar si un texto está escrito por una IA o no.
¿Cómo hacerlo?
No tengo idea. No es mi trabajo. Lo mío es escribir.
Solo sé que del modo en que lo están haciendo ahora, no funciona. Mi insulto en aquella comunidad con mi cuento, fue mayúsculo. En esta ocasión no lo fue, ya que mi esposa y la curadora se conocían y solo le pidieron la edición para beneficio mutuo y cumplir con lo establecido. Y no somos los únicos que hemos pasado por eso, estoy seguro. Eso tiene que cambiar.
Este texto no es para criticar a ninguna comunidad o curador en específico. Las evidencias que muestro es para validar mis comentarios. Mi crítica es el uso injustificado y erróneo de estas IAs para detectar el uso de las IAs.
