I just watched part one of season two of Wednesday, and as a huge fan of the series, I never saw this coming. I wish I could ask the writer a couple of questions. I really want to know if they were under pressure to release something and that’s why they brought this out or what?
Wednesday is a series about a young girl with psychic abilities who attends a school for outcast. It has two seasons but today, I want to talk about the first part of season 2. So the whole storyline of Wednesday season two is about a vision Wednesday Addams had where her roommate was blaming her for her death. Right after that vision, she found out that she had a stalker who was very close, and that made her realize how fast she must act to save her roommate.
First of all, I don’t get this thing with producers where they release the first part of a season and nothing makes sense. I mean, isn’t it better to show us something that would make us anticipate the rest of the season? The first part of season 2 doesn’t even make me want to watch the rest of it. *just kidding, I’ll never miss a Wednesday episode*
Some of the scenes made no sense, like when Wednesday burnt the gift the new principal made for her in front of the whole school. What was the point? For someone who always claims not to want attention, she does the exact opposite. And the plot twists? Many of them were unnecessary. It’s like they wanted us to be shocked so bad that in the end, they disappointed us.
One particular moment that made me realize they probably didn’t have any content for us was when one whole episode was about pranks. And not just any prank, but pranks to let the viewers think someone was trying to kill Wednesday. I started questioning everything after that prank. So what about Wednesday’s vision? Was it all a joke too? And how convenient that her ability got disabled right when we needed her to prove herself to us.
At this point, I feel bad for only talking about the loopholes in the season. But of course, for the eerie atmosphere, they didn’t play at all. Although some of the side storylines totally missed the point, they were still scary, so let’s give it to them.
And as usual, they were on point with their setting and dramatic script that make Wednesday, Wednesday. Aside from that, every other thing made Wednesday Monday. We all know there’s no fun in Monday, and it’s also the most boring yet serious day. And that’s exactly how this season was. It’s still a solid 8.5/10 in my books because why not?
