Ideas May Be Abolished, But They Are Still Here

Good evening everyone. I hope you're all having a good day and getting along with your lives. The last few days have been very hectic for me. Engineering degrees are really quite something. They don't give you any room to do other things. No free time. No time to spend with friends and family. Let alone spending time by yourself. But anyway all that ranting could wait. The fact is that I am back again after 4 or maybe 5 days. But the thing is I don't know how long or how many days will I be consistently available. Anyway upon coming back, I was going to the contest announcements and it looked like the latest one there was something up my alley. And I could actually talk about it. Not in the most obvious way you might think. Rather I want to draw some parallels. --- ![1000015412.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/abrar-fahim/23z7FdSBPSSjevFkUQAWhjfgTsjWWBjbyrGNi1zXjWpS3tRQxuvNNXM9GHk3c24ESjE1J.jpg) --- So yeah, slavery is abolished and it actually does not exist anywhere in the world, but at the same time it is all over the world. The definition of slavery is making someone do your work and effectively having their ownership. You get to decide what they eat, what they do, what they get as amenities, etc. Now in the modern day no one actually owes anybody I like the way I just described things are pretty close. I'm sure all of you have heard rumblings about corporate slavery. Well they don't call it corporate slavery unless slavery was included. Now let's talk about it. In the corporate landscape in our world, we see low level employees grinding their days from morning to midnight and they barely get any time off between that time period. Your company decides where we go, decides how much you are paid, which extends to what you get for amenities, and most of all your mental health goes with your job. The longer hours, the sooner you become insane. The scenario is not only restricted to corporations. Businesses around the world, small or not, always tend to look for free help. Or help that requires a very very little amount of to get started. You will see it by the name of internships. These days there are many businesses who bring interns with hopes and dreams, and overwork them. All for a small compensation or sometimes no compensation at all. In countries like mine, this is quite common. There are many unpaid internships which are eerily similar to slavery. Nonetheless, people do these jobs because they have no other choice. Unemployment rates are going up. Employers are taking advantage of the fact that there are more applicants than jobs. They know if a certain person does not work out, there's someone next in line. Slavery may be abolished. But the idea of using others to your work at an inhumane setting, is still there. The mindset has been fragmented between racism and free internships, but it is still there. People don't appreciate other people's work like they used to. Especially the corporate world is quite brutal in this regard.
