La Playita de 110: un lugar con magia en la Habana 🇪🇸 🇬🇧

 En plena ciudad Habanera se encuentra **Miramar**, un lugar hermoso donde los parques frondosos, embajadas, residencias, iglesias, hoteles y centros comerciales, laten cada día con los citadinos que frecuentan una zona que vibra a un ritmo más apacible y relajado. En **Cuba**, todos los días quitan el servicio eléctrico para el ahorro de combustible. Algo que se hace sentir con fuerza en otras provincias, donde los cables eléctricos están más acostumbrados a no estar energizados, que a sentir el paso de los electrones por ellos. Aprovechando una tarde de apagón, mi esposa, mis dos hijos con sus parejas, junto a **Titán**, un intrépido **Chihuahua**, decidimos salir a estirar los huesos, caminando hasta la **Playita de 110**. Un pequeño espacio de costa, ubicado en la **Avenida 3ra y calle 110**, a poca distancia de la legendaria e imponente **5ta Avenida**. Es la zona más cercana que tenemos para disfrutar de un ambiente marino, donde el arrecife que da paso al mar, está a menos de seis cuadras de mi casa. Una vez que llegas al lugar, encuentras en la curva de la **Avenida 3ra**, este edificio de tres pisos, que ha sido, desde su construcción, centinela de la historia de este pequeño espacio natural costero, que para muchos habaneros es desconocido.  En los meses de julio y agosto, cuando los rayos del sol inciden con fuerza elevando la temperatura del agua, es cuando más personas acuden a disfrutar de un mar transparente, con un fondo rocoso, ideal para hacer **snorkeling**, y ver algunas especies de peces que habitan en nuestros arrecifes coralinos. Entre las rocas, a poca profundidad, son habituales los erizos pequeños de espinas cortas. Por ese motivo, es aconsejable bañarse con algún tipo de calzado, para evitar lesiones por el contacto con sus espinas. En ese espacio de arena, frente al edificio que observan en la foto, en los meses de verano, se ponen pequeños chiringuitos, donde puedes consumir algo para comer y para tomar.   Hace años, a esta costa se le plantó una gran cantidad de arena, y se hicieron varios bancos de concreto frente al mar, para que la gente pudiera contemplar y sentir la relajación del entorno. Pero esa linda escena hecha por la mejor voluntad humana, duró muy poco. Nuestro país fue azotado por un gran huracán, que se encargó, con la fuerza de las olas y los vientos, de arrastrar toda la arena hasta casi más de dos cuadras. Tanto fue el embate del mar, que los bancos que estaban cimentados en lo que solemos decir: **diente de perro**, ese sustrato rocoso común en muchas costas, fueron desprendidos o destruidos. Parecía como que la naturaleza decidió eliminar esos agregados de causa antrópica, para dejar la costa en su ambiente natural como siempre fue. Precisamente, tomé esta foto de grupo, frente a la costa, en uno de esos bancos que hace años se desprendió y que permanece así.     Una vez recorrida la zona de baño de la costa, nos trasladamos al extremo izquierdo, donde hay unas estructuras de hormigón. Se trata de una construcción que nunca llegó a terminarse y que, desde que tengo uso de razón, siempre ha permanecido intacta. En el interior, una vegetación cobra protagonismo: hay varios arbustos de **mangle**, que aportan un bonito verdor y vida natural a este espacio cerrado de paredes sobre las rocas.    Un muro, destruido en su centro, nos daba entrada al **círculo social obrero Gerardo Abreu Fontán**. Un lugar donde disfruté mucho con mis padres, que lo frecuentaban con sus amigos. Lo que más destaca es ese largo muro en el agua, en forma de semicírculo, que delimita la zona de playa a mar abierto. Hoy, la abrasión ambiental ha desgastado gran parte de los detalles de su diseño, pero sigue siendo un lugar ideal para tomar fotografías, y donde los pescadores se congregan para disfrutar de su afición. Nunca olvidaré, que en ese mismo arco, durante mi adolescencia, pesqué un gran pez, conocido popularmente como **Pargo criollo**. No decidimos caminar por el arco. Había algunas olas rompiendo en este, y el agua, junto con el **limo** del suelo, se vuelve muy resbaladiza y peligrosa para deambular. Por otro lado, **Titán**, estaba feliz, ya que estaba explorando y marcando un nuevo lugar con su orina.  A pesar de las secuelas causadas por los fenómenos meteorológicos, más el descuido humano, sigo viendo la belleza de la **Playita de 110**. Encontrar en una zona residencial, un espacio donde una pequeña costa, un mar cristalino, cocoteros, manglares, personas que lanzan sus plegarias y ofrendas con fe, mientras otros disfrutan de un bello atardecer compartiendo su amor o refrescando sus paladares con algo de beber, es una escena mágica para mis sentidos. A esto añado los gratos recuerdos que atesoro de mi infancia, junto con hermosas amistades. Tras dejar la costa, nos dirigimos a una pequeña cafetería, donde brindamos en familia: por disfrutar de la tarde juntos, por estar sanos y por alegrarnos de esos pequeños detalles que dan sentido a la vida. Les deseo un lindo día de miércoles.  --- **** --- ## La Playita de 110: a place with magic in Havana  In the heart of Havana is **Miramar**, a beautiful place where leafy parks, embassies, residences, churches, hotels and shopping malls, pulsate every day with the city dwellers who frequent an area that vibrates at a more peaceful and relaxed pace. In **Cuba**, every day they remove the electric service to save fuel. Something that is strongly felt in other provinces, where the electric cables are more accustomed to not being energized, than to feel the passage of electrons through them. Taking advantage of a blackout afternoon, my wife, my two children with their partners, together with **Titán**, an intrepid **Chihuahua**, we decided to go out to stretch our bones, walking to the **Playita de 110**. A small waterfront space, located on **3rd Avenue and 110th Street**, a short distance from the legendary and imposing **5th Avenue**. It is the closest area we have to enjoy a marine environment, where the reef that gives way to the sea is less than six blocks from my house. Once you arrive at the place, you find in the curve of the **Avenida 3ra**, this three-story building, which has been, since its construction, sentinel of the history of this small natural coastal space, which for many Havana is unknown.  In the months of July and August, when the sun's rays hit hard, raising the water temperature, is when more people come to enjoy a transparent sea, with a rocky bottom, ideal for snorkeling, and see some species of fish that inhabit our coral reefs. Among the rocks, at shallow depths, small sea urchins with short spines are common. Therefore, it is advisable to swim with some kind of footwear to avoid injury from contact with their spines. In that space of sand, in front of the building that you see in the photo, in the summer months, there are small beach bars, where you can eat and drink something.   Years ago, a large amount of sand was planted on this coast and several concrete benches were made in front of the sea, so that people could contemplate and feel the relaxation of the environment. But that beautiful scene, made by the best human will, did not last long. Our country was hit by a great hurricane, which took charge, with the force of the waves and the winds, of dragging all the sand up to almost more than two blocks. So much was the environmental onslaught, that the banks that were founded on what we use to say: **dogtooth**, that rocky substrate common in many coasts, were detached or destroyed. It seemed as if nature decided to eliminate those aggregates of anthropic cause, to leave the coast in its natural environment as it always was. Precisely, I took this group photo, in front of the coast, in one of those banks that years ago was detached and that remains like that.     Once we toured the bathing area of the coast, we moved to the far left, where there are some concrete structures. It was a construction that was never completed, and for as long as I can remember, it has always been intact. Inside, a vegetation takes center stage: there are several **mangle** bushes, which provide a nice greenery and natural life to this enclosed space of walls on the rocks.    A wall, destroyed in its center, gave us entrance to the **working class social circle Gerardo Abreu Fontán**. A place where I enjoyed a lot with my parents, who frequented it with their friends. What stands out the most is that long wall in the water, in the shape of a semicircle, which delimits the beach area to the open sea. Today, environmental abrasion has worn away much of the details of its design, but it is still an ideal place to take photographs, and where fishermen congregate to enjoy their hobby. I will never forget, that in that same arch, during my adolescence, I caught a big fish, popularly known as **Pargo criollo**. We did not decide to walk the arch. There were some waves breaking on this one, and the water, together with the **slime** on the ground, becomes very slippery and dangerous to wander. On the other hand, **Titan**, was happy, as he was exploring and marking a new place with his urine.  Despite the aftermath caused by weather phenomena, plus human neglect, I still see the beauty of the **Playita de 110**. To find in a residential area, a space where a small coast, a crystalline sea, coconut trees, mangroves, people who throw their prayers and offerings with faith, while others enjoy a beautiful sunset sharing their love or refreshing their palates with something to drink, is a magical scene for my senses. To this I add the fond memories I treasure from my childhood, along with beautiful friendships. After leaving the coast, we headed to a small cafe, where we toasted as a family: to enjoy the afternoon together, to be healthy and to enjoy those little details that give meaning to life.
