How To Use a Zipper Foot

Hello #Needlework community! 🧵

It's been a very long time here. I've been away from Hive, and a lot has happened and changed since then. But one thing that remains constant is that I'm still a #needleworker and my love for my Hive communities. Consider this post my welcome back post.

One of the biggest challenges I faced back then as a student in fashion school (and I believe many others share this experience) was fixing zippers.

It sounds so easy, but it's definitely not as easy as it sounds. I would spend hours, sometimes days trying to fix a zipper to my already perfectly sewn dress. The frustration was overwhelming.

Anytime my boss called me to fix a zipper, my heart would skip a beat. I was always terrified. 😅

In my school of thoughts, I believe that the finishing IS the dress. No matter how beautiful the design or expensive the fabric, poor finishing destroys everything and a perfectly installed zipper can elevate a simple dress to professional quality.

But now, I have a solution, one that will help tackle this challenge once and for all a zipper foot.

Ever since I got this zipper foot before my graduation from fashion school, fixing zippers became fun rather than terrifying.

This zipper foot allows you to get a close, straight, clean stitch right next to your zipper teeth, which leaves your clothes perfectly sewn.

What used to take hours now takes minutes, no more fear when zippers are involved!

How to use a Zipper foot

Step 1: Remove your regular presser foot

Step 2: Attach the zipper foot

Step 3: Position your fabric and zipper Step 4: Adjust needle position if needed Step 5: Sew slowly and steadily

The difference is clear, it's amazing how one small tool can transform your entire sewing experience. If you're struggling with zippers, invest in a zipper foot, it's a game-changer.

It feels great to be back to #hive and in the #Needlework community. I've missed sharing and learning with all of you. Here's to many more sewing adventures together!
