The Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System, also known as the Shushtar Historical Water Structures,

is an interconnected collection of 13 historical monuments.

In the north of Khuzestan, there is a city called Shushtar, which is only 63 kilometers away from Dezful.

The city is known for its waterfalls and water structures and welcomes many tourists every year

including bridges, dams, mills, waterfalls, hand-drawn canals, and massive water tunnels.

These 13 works work as a single hydraulic system and work in relation to each other and were built from the Achaemenid to Sassanid periods to make more use of water.

This area has been referred to as the largest industrial complex before the Industrial Revolution

This structure consists of bridges, dams, waterfalls, canals, and large tunnels that are connected to each other in a very harmonious and orderly manner and have the role of directing water. But today, only a part of it remains.

We really enjoyed seeing this historical and beautiful area, the huge volume of water that circulates dissipates a certain energy in the air,

and interestingly, these structures are located in the middle of the city, and the houses that inhabit it can still be seen around it at the top of the structure, and they have a good view.
