Today I’m going to talk about the current ‘in-thing’ that’s on the news, via people’s word of mouth and of course on the internet/social media. The topic of today is, Top 5 Cities to Make Money Online (MMO) as a Digital Nomad in Year 2017 So who exactly are these ‘digital nomads’ and how do they earn money online to keep up with their nomadic online lifestyle?
Who are the digital nomads?

Well, ’digital nomads’ are predominantly a modern type of profession, whereby, they have combined remote working with a travel and exploration lifestyle together. So what are the statistics of the current workforce that are digital nomads? From what I can research on based on the comprehensive study of demographics, the majority are in their 30s (ie. with approximately 18% of them being older than expected, roughly between the ages of 37-45 years old). The data also shows that about 64% of these digital nomads are males and they do visit 5-10 countries per year with an average visitation of 1-3 months per country.

1. Bali – Indonesia
Bali has somewhat earned its reputation as the next beacon of Silicon Valley. Digital Nomads from all across the globe are travelling to this humid and tropical paradise in South East Asia to enjoy their work alongside beautiful beaches, cheap and delicious food, and to enjoy their Balinese heritage with an accessible high speed wifi network that is an obligatory requirement for every digital nomad. 2. Ho Chi Minh – Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh has long been known as a budgeted and no frills city that has almost all the essential needs under one roof. From their penny-saving Vietnamese street foods (ie. USD$2-$3 for a meal), to their cheap lodgings (ie. USD$15-$30 for lodgings), and with an affordable internet rate, this place should be on the bucket list of all digital nomads! There’s also news of upcoming development on increasing the co working spaces in Ho Chi Minh based on the government’s business friendly policies.

3. Chiang Mai – Thailand
Chiang Mai is known as the ’The Rose of the North’ has the potential to be another digital nomad’s bucket list city. How so you may ask? The city provides affordable wifi with high speed internet which are available on-demand at their co-working spaces. There’s also plenty to do in Chiang Mai besides mingling with their growing community of entrepreneurs, digital nomads and professionals from diverse industries of work. Such as, visiting their historical city (ie. located on the Ping River), checking out their natural surroundings and magnificent temples, sampling tasty Thai street food, shopping, outdoor activities (ie. hiking, muay thai boxing, etc), and participating in their yearly festivals (ie. Songkran Festival, Loi Krathong Festival, etc).

Furthermore, it’s pretty much sunny all year round, so you’ll get your tan like a true Californian. There are many coffee shops and bars that digital nomads can do their work in if they are looking for an outdoor work space too. San Diego is also known as one of the fastest rising digital hubs in USA which caters for those who plan to leave the Silicon Valley residency in search of a lower rent price with a stable tech infrastructure.

5. Lisbon – Portugal
For the final city, Lisbon, it provides the quality of life with good internet speed, low cost of living, and a low language barrier for all digital nomads that enters it’s charming and beautiful city. How is that so you may ask? Firstly, the weather is somewhat sunny with temperatures that rarely go below 10ºC during all year round. A few other things to note within the city, are the affordable living rent prices at about €400 per month for an apartment, cheap food at their coffee cafes with a dependable wifi network and mingling with a community of friendly and English speaking Portugese people. Lisbon has also been known to hold some truly breath-taking views of it’s ocean, serene country side landscapes and sparkling river flows.

Here are some pointers of how 'digital nomads' do make money online to keep up with their nomadic lifestyle. In due time, I’ll go through more in detail with all these pointers in my next upcoming posts. So stay tune, my fellow readers and followers.
Listed down as seen below are the methods digital nomads 'MMO' by:- A. Starting their own online business via methods such as:-
1) Earning money as a freelancer (ie. such as writing, editing, web designing, coding, etc)
2) By selling their services (ie. such as skype coaching, business consulting, fitness training, etc)
3) By creating their own passive income (ie. using methods seen below):- a) Selling their own digital products as a merchant b) Doing affiliate marketing of merchant's online product c) Performing service arbitrage based on different countries' currency conversion d) Dropshipping physical products on various ecommerce platforms
B. Creating content for passive income growth:-
1) Blogging on Steemit platform to earn SBD and SP
2) Hosting websites that sell their own info products or someone else’s info products
3) Hosting their own YouTube channel for building audience and profiting from advertisers.
