The "Phase" Ability and Why You Should Use It.

@adonisabril · 2021-08-12 05:32 · Splinterlands

I know a lot of players don't quite know how to use the dodging mechanics in Splinterlands, preferring instead to focus on buffs that maximize damage.

Most often forgo the finesse tactics that advanced players use.

If you're one of those players take heed. Learn how to use Speed, Dodge, and the new "Phase" ability.

Previously, there was no way to "dodge" magic attacks and magic was one way to ensure a hit on speedy monsters with the dodge ability.

So, Phase, what is it.

It's basically the dodge ability but for dodging magic instead of melee and arrow attacks.

Several of the Rewards cards have this ability and my favorite one so far is "Nightmare."

At max level, this monster has 7 Speed which makes him nearly impossible to hit with 1-2 speed melee/arrow monsters.

It also gets the "Phase" ability at level 5 and if you get a high mana "Enrage" ruleset with the Dragon Splinter as an option and you have Byzantine Kitty with +2 Speed...Look out!

Check the battle below:

You can see from the above the water team with the Kraken & Valnamor looks positioned to annihilate Byzantine Kitty and Co.

But, low and behold speed buffs, and debuffs, and the phase ability rendered all magic users useless and it even dodges the Kraken's attacks.

And that's all because of the Nightmare card with high speed and the phase ability.

I don't really see this card utilized as much and there are very few battles I've seen it used in Diamond and Champion League.

That's probably gonna change as more top tier player realize its value.

I guess only time will tell when it will be used more and more.
