Hello everyone, I'm @adyma, welcome to Hive Open Mic Community week #281 and I'm so glad to be a part of this week's activity. For this week, I will be singing An Igbo song titled "Eze abata"
The song “Eze Abata” by Chinyere Udoma is a deep worship song that describes the power of God as the King who intervenes in human situations. The repeated lines in the lyrics— “Obata obie okwu m, obata obuo agha, obatara be nwanyi aga anu akwa nwa”—are profound Igbo expressions that reveal how God steps into circumstances to bring peace, settle disputes, and fight battles on behalf of His children.
When the song says “Obata obie okwu m”, it means that once God comes into a matter, every argument, confusion, or problem comes to an end. He is the final authority whose presence silences every opposing voice. The line “Obata obuo agha” emphasizes that when God enters a battle, victory is assured. No enemy or challenge can withstand His power because He fights with heavenly authority. Similarly, “Obatara be nwanyi aga anu akwa nwa” reflects God’s compassion—He visits the home of a woman in labor and ensures safe delivery, symbolizing His role as a life-giver and sustainer.
The song further celebrates God as the “Oke Chi na-eme mma”, meaning the Great God who does good things. It acknowledges that God is not only mighty in battle but also merciful and kind, always doing wonders in the lives of His people. The repeated declaration “Akpolie Chukwu ebube, ihe ebube eme” means that when God is praised and called upon, He manifests His glory and performs miracles.
Overall, Eze Abata is both a song of reassurance and worship. It teaches that God’s presence brings peace, victory, deliverance, and joy. It encourages believers to trust God because whenever He steps into any situation, everything changes for the better.
