Retratos de la Alegría

Taking photos of the terrible of humanity has become very common, and within the common it has become an easy task, sometimes more admired and better compensated than the photographs that speak of everyday life or the joys of human beings.

Tomar fotos de lo terrible de la humanidad se ha vuelto muy común, y dentro de lo común se convertido en una tarea fácil, a veces más admirada y mejor compensada que las fotografías que hablan de lo cotidiano o las alegrías de los seres humanos.

For that reason, and because I feel better this way, I almost always seek to share these photos where people's eyes shine for beautiful reasons. Those reasons that each person carries inside, sometimes very hidden, sometimes on the surface.

Por esa razón, y porque me siento mejor de esta manera, casi siempre busco compartir estas fotos donde los ojos de las personas brillan por bonitas razones. Esas razones que cada persona lleva dentro, a veces muy escondidas, a veces a flor de piel.

Because there will always be reasons to want to cry, to not want to breathe or see everything in darkness. And those reasons are valid and necessary. But we must never forget that joy is also a duty. Joy is a duty to ourselves, and also a duty to others.

Porque siempre van a existir razones para querer llorar, para no querer respirar o verlo todo en tinieblas. Y esas razones son válidas y necesarias. Pero nunca debemos olvidar que también la alegría es un deber. La alegría es un deber para con nosotros mismos, y también un deber hacia los demás.

The joy of seeing a new dawn, of seeing the flowers opening to the light, of the first flight of a bird. Joy for new friends, for that coffee we share with our mothers or brothers. Joy because those around us give us joy. And I want to infect you with the joy of these photos.

La alegría por ver un nuevo amanecer, por ver las flores abriéndose a la luz, por el primer vuelo de un pájaro. Alegría por los nuevos amigos, por ese café que compartimos con nuestras madres o hermanos. Alegría porque quienes nos rodean nos regalan alegría. Y yo quiero contagiarlos a ustedes con la alegría de estas fotos.
