"Hear me and tremble. Approach and embrace oblivion." Greetings Splinterlands community! @affliction here, back with the second entry in my Splinterlands lore video series - this time diving into the twisted story of Doctor Blight. This one was recommended by @unitmaster , and I have to say, I truly enjoyed creating it. As I worked through the lore, I was simply intrigued. If you did not check my first attempt to create a lore video on "Shock Trooper", do check it out.

Lore
To say the faculty at Pelcroft were uncooperative when first presented with Alastair's “evidence” would be an understatement. Shunned for his obsession with obscure folklore and laughed at for his insistence on a forgotten “hidden” continent, staff and friends alike mumbled pejoratives just out of earshot suggesting an unbalanced mind, drawing comparisons to the infirmed at Silverwood Asylum.
But the Yerivin Manuscript could not be ignored. Though indecipherable, the illuminated volume hinted at lands and flora somehow lost, suggesting a rich landscape ever so near but inaccessible to the uninitiated. As his critics grew more vocal he grew ever more determined, reclusive and choleric, buying the artifacts he could and stealing what he could not to fuel his obsessive research; obscure tablets in jade, strange figures carved in hardwoods unknown, and fragments of rotting velum in writing nearly identical the Yerivin volume. But still they would not believe.
Everything changed when the first sightings were made. The seas themselves had suddenly shifted, alien currents with strange fish had interrupted trade routes and samples described in university articles gave at last incontrovertible evidence for Alastair's claims. Though gifted now with funding, celebrity and a clockwork steamer to make the voyage, his sleep became restless, haunted by whispers of fear and greed.
On the sea he grew thin, unable to eat, feeding instead on his growing delusions, disappearing from the shore camp on arrival, returning late that first night wild-eyed, raving of ruins in the jungle and of visions of a flaming caldera where all questions would be answered. The crew muttered. The ship's captain hid the guns and rum.
The next morning he was gone. It was a fortnight before reports reached the shore of great swaths of jungle blackened and dead with tales of a crow beaked shadow bringing death in its wake.
Gameplay Analysis
Strengths
- Extremely flexible since he’s Neutral — usable in any Splinter.
- Affliction shuts down healing tanks and support monsters.
- Poison + Scavenger makes him dangerous in long battles.
- Camouflage keeps him safe until the late game.
Weaknesses
- Very low Health at lower levels — easy to snipe with indirect damage.
- Vulnerable to Blast and AoE effects (magic reflect, thorns, etc.).
- Requires a strong frontline to protect him while he scales.
Best Rulesets
- Noxious Fumes → Immune to poison? No, but thrives here as Poison stacks with ruleset.
- Little League → At 4 mana, he’s one of the strongest low-cost legendaries.
- Equalizer → Fixes his weak HP pool and lets him scale better.
Best Synergies
- With Tank Healers → buy him time to apply Affliction + Poison.
- With Magic-heavy comps → stacks pressure with other mages.
- With Scavenger allies → multiple units scale HP as the battle drags on.
Practical Use
Doctor Blight often flips matches in low mana battles where his Poison and Affliction cripple enemy sustain. Placed behind a Void or Shield tank, he can survive long enough to become a late-game closer.
The Video
Tools Used
- ChatGPT / DALL·E → for scene breakdowns and gothic teal-and-gold image generation.
- Pixverse → to animate the still images with mist, glow, and shadow transitions.
- ElevenLabs → to generate the narration audio for the lore script.
- Canva → to combine scenes with audio, add background music, and finalize the edits.
Based on the recommendation by @bravetofu, I'll be working on a step-by-step guide how the final product comes together with the tools mentioned.
