A few days ago I was briefly sick and it was like the whole day was having extra hours because of how horrible I was feeling until the medications I had sent someone to get arrived, used it and after a while it started working and I started feeling better. This is to show that there's no good way of living to humans when the physical health is at stake.
But there's a question more or less like a mystery. There's always a medication to be prescribed when it's a physical health issue but what's the prescription when it comes to mental health.
Mental health is a very rampant issue battling with people and probably ending their lives at short notice when care is not taken. It's like what people refer to as green snake under the green grass OR A Silent Killer and it's just so good that people have come to realize that not only people who have mental disorder or run mad are being referred to having mental health issues so everyone is now closely monitoring what they do that affects their mental health. I remember telling a friend that no matter how late my Hive post submission may be, as long as I'm not mentally stable or fit, I can't write a line not even 250words of article but I can still manage to write when I'm not physically okay.
Physical health just like it sounds shows physically on humans, restricting us from what we do normally as daily tasks, affects the quantity of food we take in or even restrict us from eating at all, looking pale like lifeline is melting off, reduction in weight and more which shows vividly that the person is really sick and needs medical attention but when it comes to mental health, it's like an invisible virus eating deep in whoever is falling as a victim.
In one of the Hive-Learners Monday hangouts sessions on discord, @fashtioluwa presented on a topic around Mental health and he made mention of a particular lady who had delay in getting married and society had started putting pressure on her, which later got to her, causing her to start doing things she was not doing before like doing makeovers and the likes, acting abnormal to her previous way of behaving.
The thing is everyone has one thing or the other they are facing no matter how small it is. Some people have the courage and trust security to share it while some does not have circle of trusted people to share their thoughts and problems with which even worsens the situation but it becomes worse when we allow what people say or pressure from people gets to us and deteriorating the bad state we currently are.
Just like a close person of mine, whenever she have anything no matter how little it is worrying her or any challenges she's passing through, she feels better only when she shares it me and if I'm not available, she feels like her head would explode. Then I wonder, how on earth would she have cope if she doesn't have anyone she could trust with whatever she's passing through. At times she complains of having bad thoughts running through her head and it takes great counselling to ward off that kind of feelings from her.
So I would even say at times, mental health has a greater hold on humans than physical health because there's no cure except self cure by coming back to one's senses. Even if there's a need for a counselling, it still all comes around to self-cure, accepting that there's a problem which you need to solve by being yourself again.
Learning how to strike a balance between these two health states takes wisdom, self-care, Self-discovery including what you love to do, having good meals, knowing when to stop on something and getting support when needed. For example, a just delivered nursing mother suffering from Postpartum depression, there's a physical health at stake and there's a mental health at stake. If proper support is not put in place aside medications, the baby might end up being taken care of by another person which is not a prayer any parent would wish themselves.
When we discover ourselves to know if we can heal on our own, come back to our normal state of mind on our own without having to share it others OR we can't survive it without speaking out then it will be easy knowing what to do when we find ourselves in issues that pertains with our mental stability. Doing more and engaging more of the things that makes us happy helps a lot in nurturing both health states which is still part of our Self-discovery.
I believe getting solutions to retrieving our sound health back when we feel sick is so sure since there's nothing we can do without a perfect or sound health but people dealing with mental health still walk around, work, attend parties etc like nothing is happening till fowl yansh gets opened in the public and nothing could be done to save them anymore.
In conclusion, in as much as we try to stay healthy physically, let's learn to stay healthy mentally. If work, spouse, child nursing, responsibility and so on is tampering with our mental health, it's better to talk it out to see if there's an alternative way to solving it. There will always be a way and problem shared most times is half solved.
I will be dropping my 🖊️ here on the Hive Learners community prompt.
