Ok, we're getting really close. I'm hoping by the end of September we'll have a hive based mobile first website for arcade colony, free to play aspects in our games, and the first web3 mobile/browser app templates for you to use.
A mobile website that's mobile first and works on regular browsers
Normally when you want to use anything hive related on a mobile you have 1 browser to choose from: Kiwi. That's because extensions don't work on mobile browsers, so you have to use the kiwi browser with keychain because it's the one browser that integrates keychain. It works, but it's not a great user experience.
A better user experience is having hive keychain mobile on your phone, browsing whatever website you want or doing something in an app, getting to a thing that needs a signed transaction, and getting a prompt from hive-keychain mobile app. We have that working now on the backend and on QA servers for our mobile first website. Arcade Colony will be the first fully functional website that ties directly to hive keychain mobile app, and v1 is nearly done. Hopefully it's launched by the end of the month.
What we've done isn't just build 1 mobile site, but we have built a process for turning mobile first designs into web3 mobile apps. So, when our partners choose to build with us we'll have the ability to convert their browser apps (which work on desktop and mobile) into app store apps with a rapid process.
Free to Play and Play to earn
So, one of the next frustrations is that web3 games have really only been web3, and they don't have web2 aspects of free to play. Web3 is a pretty amazing at monetizing what a community is doing, but it's not great at spreading rapidly. Hopefully the wombo combo of spreadability because of web2 and monetization of web3 allows projects to grow and earn. We're making sure games built on arcade colony have a variety of the free to play parts of games and play to earn parts of games so you can try it for free, play and have fun, and voluntarily upgrade to a deeper experience in web3 if you really dig it.
Here's an example of a reward streak
So, come back every day and you'll get some bonuses on a weekly timeframe. Or you can play every day and meet your daily quests and objectives.
I'm hoping that the things that have propelled web2 games for a few decades continue to help grow web3 games. And the money that can come from web3 makes it worth the extra hassle.
Burying the lead a little - App Templates
Ok, this concept might be a little hard to understand... If an app backend already exists that handles wallets, signups, APIs, and a ton of other things then 95% of the work of building a blockchain app is done. You as a developer would have to build and integrate 1 new feature to have a new and separate app in an otherwise opensource template. That's the dream. Put a new feature in a template app and have a fully launchable web3 product.
Raise money. Sell products. Spread the word. Build a community. Reward the base. And do it without having to build all of it. Just plug and play into the template and get your 1 unique feature into the world.
Best yet... we're nearly done with a handful of example templates that developers will be able to use to make their own apps.
- Game with no backend
- Game with a backend
- Mobile app
So, let's say you're a developer and you made a Unity game. You want it to be web3, but you don't want to build and host all that infrastructure to make it work. You can integrate your game assets on arcade colony, shove the unity game into a template app, and launch your web3 game.
If you want more control than what we offer you can run your own backend to do things like create and issue NFT rewards or your own crafting system. So, our backend will have some standard contracts that you could configure, but you can always run a private backend to do more stuff than what we allow off the shelf.
Also, if you don't want to build a unity game, but something closer to a business application we'll have you covered there too. The Prime Pick app we've been working on, a prediction market for sports and life, will be a template app for a web3 browser tool. We'll have a template ready for you soon where the entire web3 backend is ready to go, and all you have to do is supply 1 feature to make it unique.
Our feature is a prediction market. Your feature could be social media, accounting, video sharing, whatever. You only need 1 new feature to make a web3 tool because the rest of the web3 backend is operational on day 1 from the template.
Anyway, get your idea ready. Think about what 1 app or game you wish existed in web3, and realize with these templates you might actually be able to build it yourself on a shoestring budget.
My dream and fundamental ideology is that if I can help you build a business and be successful I will be too. So, here are the best tools I know how to make that allow you to go off on your own and build your own web2/web3 mobile empire. I hope you can dream big and build something amazing. I'll try to help you do it!
