Hi Movie lover! Happy Saturday to you. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. After the stress of the day yesterday, I decided to see a movie that I downloaded in the course of the week. The movie title is Shaman produced by Christian Rojas Espana The movie started as religious one but ended up an horror movie. It was so unexpected. The movie centered around a Christian family of three: father, mother and their son that went to a village for evangelism.

Their mission seemed successful that many were gathered in the village for baptism. Particularly, one of the new converts was so grateful to Candice and her husband for showing them the way of Salvation. She together with others were taught about the Catholic principles of Confession of sins, the penance for sins. All was indeed going well untill Candice noticed her son was missing. She eagerly went to look for her, asking the other children in the village until they pointed towards a particular cave, where he earlier entered and never came out.

Elliott, their son had earlier lost his watch, when his toy plane mistakenly entered into the cave. He was however gripped by a demonic hand in the cave, which gave him some concotion soup and held him hostage until her mother bumped in, confronted the traditionists on why they would do such to her son. It was however unknown to Candice that her son had been bewitched until he started acting strangely and demonic. Elliot's eyes would turn black and blood will be rolling down his cheeks. At times, he would scream and fell. His mother knew all was not well with him, that he was already possessed by the the demon of the village. He sometimes would disappear on his bed at night and her mother would go out looking for him.

Candice later confessed all that had been happening to the Reverend father. Thankfully, father was once a medic. He ran a test but knew it was not medical. Candice was so worried for Elliot. They decided to have a deliverance session for Elliot to cast out the demon, but he turned out beating the Reverend father to stupor and killing him. The demon sighted his unbelief and the alcohol that was smelling in his mouth. The demon really tormented the family and killed several people through Elliot. It set the small church they built in the village on fire, claiming he is the god of the land. The demon through Elliot attacked his asthmatic father and nearly killed him. The church was burnt, their mission was ruined and they felt so helpless.

However, I think the movie was bias and written to underestimate the power of the Most High God. Though it portrayed some of the challenges faced by missionaries in remote villages, I wonder how the Christian couple prayed to God but received no answers, even when God says "call unto me, I will answer you". The movie really diminished the efficacy power of God as if Jesus is powerless. The movie highly exhault the power of darkness above the power of God.

In the movie, Candice went back to the cave, surrending to the demonic people to undo what they have done to her son. They had to tell to give another life in exchange for her son's life. Candice was helpless and had to accept the offer when the demon wanted to kill her at the spot through her son.

She rushed and found a girl playing by the cave, she took the child by the hand and gave her life in exchange for her son, which was contrary to Christian teaching. It was ironic how Candice was not able to call unto God for assistance but surrendered to sacrifice another woman's child for her own.

Even though, the movie was right as it highlighted that doubt and unholy acts like drinking alcohol could give demons the legal ground to torment God's people, the inability of the movie to show the mightiness of God watered it down completely. I hope you can also take a watch of the movie.

Rating I rate the movie 5/10 Thanks for reading Poster picture sourced, other pictures are screenshots from the movie.
