My last cooking tutorial was around this time Three years ago. I watched a lot of cooking videos and learnt more recipes. I want to show and give a mini tutorial of a meal I cheffed up for the house yesterday.🧑‍🍳 photo-output.jpeg

I grew up learning different recipes from my dad because he loved cooking and i found it really cute. Most times all I had to do was watch and learn or help out in prepping some ingredients.

He’ll always make some beef sauce or chicken sauce to have with rice. It’s one out of many of his favorite meals to make. It became my go-to food eventually.

INGREDIENTS

Fresh red Beef Fresh scotch bonnet Green pepper Garlic Onions Soy sauce Oyster sauce Sesame oil Corn flour

You can add the yellow and red bell peppers for more flavor and color. It wasn’t available in my local market at the time of making it. IMG_7466.jpeg

For lovers of generous amount of protein, you can also add some chicken breast.

MEAL PREP

Ofcourse, prep and wash your veggies for a start. Prepping includes scrapping the carrots peel and also rinsing with clean water. Grate the scotch bonnet and chop the garlic into bits. It’s important to wash and shred the beef into slices.

The style of chopping the veggies is where the color comes in, you can either opt for chopping them into cubes or the regular style. I prefer chopping my veggies into long slices for a fancier look. IMG_7478.jpeg

RECIPE

I like to make mine in a frying pan so in a clean pan, I went in with my sesame oil and garlic for flavor. IMG_7486.jpeg

I threw in the beef cuts next and I fired for about 10 minutes. There’s really no accurate time for this, most times I used my discretion and just calculate freestyle. I fried until it was tender enough and I got some broth out of it. The broth adds to the flavor of the sauce. IMG_7487.jpeg

I added the scotch bonnet next and I stirred for about 2 mins.

I averaged a time of 10 minutes for the last steps because I enjoy my veggies better when it’s still very crunchy and not overly cooked.

I went in with my vegetables, stirred and fried for about 4 minutes. This is where the star syrups come in. I measured one table spoon of soy sauce and two tablespoons of oyster sauce. Added a bit of water and poured it in. I always measure according to the amount I’m cooking because it can get really salty at this point. I let that cook for 2 minutes. IMG_7496.jpeg

Lastly, I added some extra seasoning cubes . I mixed one teaspoon of corn flour in water and poured it into my sauce. I use corn flour cause it serves as a thickener for my sauce because I’m having it with a side dish. It cooked for about 4 minutes and my sauce was ready. IMG_7502.jpeg

I served with a side dish of white rice and everyone loved it. IMG_7509.jpeg

This sauce is not only colorful, it’s also very flavorful and the aroma will leave everyone asking. It tastes even way better than it looks, need I say more🤭

It’s also a very versatile meal, you can have it with different sides like pasta, boiled potatoes and yam and it can even be eaten alone.

Let me know what you think about this in the comments and if you’ll try this recipe out sometime.

Thank you for reading 💗
