Claudia se levantó antes de que saliera el sol. Incluso antes de que sonara el despertador, con la mente a mil, repasando mentalmente todo lo que tenía pendiente, preparar los desayunos, vestir a los peques, dejar limpio el baño, responder los correos del trabajo, pasar por la farmacia a comprar el jarabe de Mateo, llevar el carro al taller, pagar el gas, llamar a su mamá, sacar al perro, no podía olvidar pasar por el supermercado... y seguro alguna otra cosa que recordaría en el camino. Agarró una hoja y empezó a enumerar con el primer bolígrafo que encontró, la lista empezó sencilla… * Desayuno * Almuerzos * Llevar niños al colegio Y siguió… y siguió… y siguió… Cuando terminó, la hoja parecía una carta, pero de despedida a tener un buen día, simplemente era absurda, se quedó mirándola unos segundos y se preguntó… ¿Cómo carajos se supone que voy a poder hacer todo esto sin sufrir un derrame? Sintió un nudo en la garganta y una tristeza muy profunda, al punto de que tuvo que contener las lagrimas, **porque ella no tenía tiempo ni para llorar**. En ese momento escuchó los pasos de sus hijos en el corredor, Mateo venía con la camiseta al revés y el Julián ya peleaba por los cereales, el perro ladraba, el celular vibraba y la cafetera silbaba. Claudia respiró hondo, muy hondo, miró de nuevo la lista y se rió. ¡De verdad!, te lo puedo jurar, una risa corta, sonó entre cansada y loca, agarró la hoja y la tiro a la papelera, buscó las llaves del auto y dijo: **¡Nos vamos!** ¿A dónde nos vamos má? preguntó Julián. A comprar desayuno y a mirar lejos en el parque, porque hoy… **no habrá más estrés.** Los niños la miraron como si estuviera hablando en otro idioma, pero se pusieron los zapatos rapidito y sin discutir. Y es que a veces, parar un ratico es más importante que seguir con lo urgente.

Claudia woke up before the sun rose.

Even before the alarm clock rang, her mind was racing, mentally reviewing everything she had to do: preparing breakfast, getting the kids dressed, cleaning the bathroom, answering work emails, stopping by the pharmacy to buy Mateo's syrup, taking the car to the garage, paying for gas, calling her mom, walking the dog, she couldn't forget stopping at the supermarket... and surely something else she'd remember along the way.

She grabbed a piece of paper and started listing it with the first pen she found. The list started out simple…

• Breakfast
• Lunches
• Taking the kids to school

And it went on… and on… and on…

When she finished, the sheet of paper looked like a letter, but saying goodbye to having a good day was simply absurd. She stared at it for a few seconds and wondered…

How the hell am I supposed to be able to do all this without having a stroke?

She felt a lump in her throat and a deep sadness, to the point where she had to hold back her tears, because she didn't even have time to cry.

At that moment, she heard her children's footsteps in the hallway. Mateo was coming in with his shirt on backward, and Julián was already fighting over the cereal, the dog was barking, the cell phone was vibrating, and the coffee maker was whistling.

Claudia took a deep breath, looked at the list again, and laughed.

Honestly! I can swear, a short laugh, sounding somewhere between tired and crazy, grabbed the sheet of paper and threw it in the trash, looked for the car keys, and said:

We're going!

Where are we going, now? asked Julian.

To buy breakfast and look far away in the park, because today... there will be no more stress.

The children looked at her as if she were speaking another language, but they put on their shoes quickly and without arguing.

And sometimes, stopping for a while is more important than continuing with what's urgent.
