He wasn't sure why he'd accepted... A friend told him, "It's going to be good," and that was enough. He put on the first thing he found and went. As soon as he walked in, he liked the atmosphere: people laughing, hugging, talking as if they hadn't seen each other in years. Some even shouted names and ran to say hello. But he didn't know anyone. He stood there for a few seconds, not knowing where to go or what to do, so he pretended to search for something on his phone while he walked straight to the drinks table, grabbed a glass with something he'd never known what it was, and leaned against the wall, as if waiting for someone who, obviously, was never going to arrive. He looked around and everyone seemed to fit in perfectly, dancing, telling stories, taking pictures, and he... he was there, invisible, like another decoration in the house. You can't say he didn't try hard, since he tried to join in a conversation, but they looked at him, smiled politely, and went on about their business. That's when he realized... he could leave, walk out, and no one would notice; there wouldn't be a "are you leaving now?" or a "stay a little longer." NOTHING! He was just there, surrounded by so many people... and feeling lonelier than ever, so he finished his drink, put down the glass, and left. He walked slowly, and on the street, amidst the silence, he felt more accompanied than among that crowd. And sometimes you go to places so you don't feel alone... and you end up emptier than ever. From that day on, he promised himself he would only go where people were truly waiting for him. If you want to participate in this content I invite: @alicia2022 @osomar357 @ungrancuento
