Una historia importante en la historia racial , polémico y aun estudiado en universidades y en la revolución femenina actual.
Alice Walker
Escritora afroamericana, ganadora de reconocimiento y dándole un pulitzer por su libro, una obra literaria 1983, siendo una historia de ficción, tuvo 2 dos versiones de películas, siendo en 1985 una dirigida por Steven Spielberg. Fue activista, feminista y tuvo una hija que siguió sus pasos, ganando un best seller en 2005.
COLOR PÚRPURA
A principio del siglo XX, celie, tenía 14 años y es nuestra protagonista y narradora en primera persona, con su gusto por escribir y poder desahogar lo que era su vida, pudiendo plasmar sus ideas y preguntas a dios cada noche, dándole su sufrimiento buscando respuestas a toda la miseria y sufrimiento que pasaba. Su madre estuvo enferma y en cama, dejándole a ella una responsabilidad tan joven y que no le tocaba más que hacerlo obligada por su padre, un hombre cruel, machista y que la obligó hacer una esposa siendo su hija, celie también cuidaba a su hermana Nettie, prefería ser la que tuviera la responsabilidad y el abuso, y que ella no viviera eso celie tenía muchos sacrificios que hacer .
Retraida ante su vida, tiene dos hijos de su padre, Adam y Olivia, de la cual no puede criar por ser abusos sexual de su padre y podría ser acusado, entonces el los da en adopción, pero celie no sabe de ellos más nunca, triste y sin poder hacer nada ante esa situación. Su madre muere y el mundo de las niñas es aun más oscuro, su padre al quedar viudo decide casarse de nuevo y también decide que celie debe casarse e irse, el papá conoce a un hombre viudo, del mismo carácter que el, sin saber que celie tendría una peor vida, dejando a su hermana con su padre.
Ella le decía el míster, tenía hijos y la vida era la misma solo que en el campo, limpiar, cocinar, sentir abusos y no tener paz. Nettie al quedar bajo el cuidado de su padre, pues tendria el mismo trato que celie y decide huir. Y busca ayuda en donde celie y esta no la puede proteger porque su esposo es igual que su padre, le promete volver y escribirle cuando esté en un lugar seguro, celie con el corazón destrozado ve partir a su hermana, quedándose ahora sola. Pasa mucho tiempo y celie no recibe nada como dijo Nettie y no sabe que destino tiene, ese tiempo Harpo su hijastro se casa con Sofía una joven, hermosa, segura y con personalidad, pero al míster no le gustaba que fuera tan libertina y dominara su hijo.
Harpor influenciado por su padre empieza a maltratarla, porque sino celie va a exigir lo mismo y ella jamás a visto otra cosa que no sea maltrato, pero siente celos de como se ve y como puede hacer valer con su palabra, sofía deja a Harpor, el y su padre se iban de fiestas y el mister empieza a llevar a una mujer.
Su amante era Shug Avery, una cantante del bar que harpor había comprado. A diferencia de otra amante ella se vuele empatica con celie, siendo atractiva y muy independiente, empieza a vivir con ellos, ve lo que pasa celie y empieza a volverse su amiga, dándole apoyo, experiencias y más determinación, las cosas van cambiando y llega el momento de la emancipación y empieza a ser más segura y empieza a usar pantalones y a coser para ganar dinero.
Un día encuentra cartas de su hermana, que llevaba años escribiendole, pero el jamás se las dio, y también descubre que vive como misionera y que encontró a sus hijos, jamás espero que eso sucediera. Shug se va con un hombre y deja al míster, su única amiga y compañía. Ella decide que se quiere separar y el míster, llamado Albert queda con problemas económicos. Pasa muchos años y celie se reencuentra con su hermana y sus hijos.
Sinopsis

A long time passes and celie receives nothing as Nettie said and does not know what her destiny is, that time Harpo her stepson marries Sofia a young, beautiful, confident and with personality, but the master did not like her to be so libertine and dominate his son.
Her lover was Shug Avery, a singer in the bar that Harpor had bought. Unlike another mistress she becomes empathetic to celie, being attractive and very independent, she starts to live with them, she sees what celie goes through and starts to become their friend, giving her support, experiences and more determination, things are changing and the time of emancipation comes and she starts to become more confident and starts to wear trousers and sew to earn money.
One day she finds letters from her sister, who had been writing to her for years, but he never gave them to her, and also discovers that she is living as a missionary and has found her children, which she never expected to happen. Shug goes off with a man and leaves the Mister, her only friend and companion. She decides that she wants to separate and the mister, called Albert, is left with financial problems. Many years pass and Celie is reunited with her sister and her children.
