Hace un tiempo, el año pasado para ser más precisa, me invitaron a una inauguración muy especial. Una amiga cercana abrió su propia tienda de tatuajes y me invito a formar parte de ese momento. Por supuesto, me emocioné, ya que esto es un paso importante en su vida y no me lo podía perder.
Some time ago—last year, to be exact—I was invited to a very special opening. A close friend of mine opened her own tattoo shop and asked me to be part of the moment. Of course, I was excited—this was a big step in her life and I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.
😎Una excelente idea para el regalo "A great gift idea"
Lo primero que se me vino en mente fue, ¿Qué le podría regalar? Y como artesana, se me ocurrieron muchas ideas al inicio, pero decidí hacer algo que le fuese útil y duradero, algo hecho por mis propias manos que de seguro iba a apreciar.
The first thing that came to mind was, what could I give her? And as a craftswoman, I had plenty of ideas at first. But I decided to make something useful and long-lasting—something handmade that she would definitely appreciate.
🎨El proceso creativo "The creative process"
Una semana antes del evento, me puse en modo creativo; empecé a buscar ideas, inspiración, bosquejos... Hasta que se me abrió el entendimiento jeje, y decidí hacerle un llavero de madera con el logo de su tienda, pirograbado por mí. Lo cual me encanto, porque era algo que tendría su esencia, representaba su marca y que además le sirviera como un detalle decorativo y significativo.
Ya que el logo de la tienda de mi amiga, tenía una inicial muy llamativa, decidí hacerla.
A week before the event, I switched into creative mode—I started looking for ideas, inspiration, sketches… until suddenly it all clicked, haha. I decided to make her a wooden keychain with her shop’s logo, hand-pyrographed by me. I loved the idea because it would carry her essence, represent her brand, and serve as both a meaningful and decorative item. Since her shop’s logo had a very striking initial, I chose to go with that.

- Mi padre hace tiempo con una máquina manual, me elaboro varios círculos a modo de llavero, los cuales estaban sin usar y en bruto, así que utilice uno de los que ya tenía a la mano, para usarlo como base de mi creación.
- Dibujé el diseño a lápiz sobre la pieza de madera, para ayudarme y tratar de seguir el patrón exacto del logo, saque un molde en una hoja impresa, y lo calque en la madera con papel carbón.
- Usé la máquina de pirograbado con diferentes puntillas para lograr los detalles y texturas, se me hizo un poco complicado al inicio, ya que mi máquina está un poco vieja y el voltaje a veces no es suficiente para hacer líneas más prolijas; pero aun así lo logré.
- Lo pulí con una lija fina, lo barnicé (el barniz tardó un día completo en secar) y le añadí el aro metálico.
- Como toque final, le hice una cajita negra personalizada.
- Some time ago, my dad made several wooden circles for me using a manual machine—like blank keychain bases. They were still unused and raw, so I grabbed one I had on hand to use as the base for my creation.
- I sketched the design in pencil onto the wood. To help myself stick to the exact logo pattern, I printed it out, made a stencil, and traced it onto the wood using carbon paper.
- I used a pyrography tool with different tips to get the textures and details right. It was a bit tricky at first since my machine is pretty old and sometimes the voltage isn’t strong enough to make clean lines—but I managed.
- I sanded it with fine sandpaper, gave it a coat of varnish (which took a full day to dry), and added the metal ring.
- As a finishing touch, I made a personalized black box for it.
😍El día de la entrega "The day of the gift":
La inauguración fue genial. Fui con mi hermana y algunos amigos. Hubo tatuajes en vivo, buena música, comida rica, bebida. También conocí nuevas personas, todos muy geniales, en su mayoría artistas o fan de lo bonito de apreciar. Ver la cara de mi amiga cuando abrió su regalo fue lo mejor de la noche. No tiene precio ver la sonrisa de las personas que son importantes para ti. Le encantó.
The opening was amazing. I went with my sister and a few friends. There were live tattoos, great music, delicious food, and drinks. I also met some new people—super cool folks, mostly artists or just fans of beautiful things. Seeing my friend’s face when she opened the gift was the highlight of the night. There’s nothing like the smile of someone who matters to you. She loved it.---
