La plaza O'Leary en el Silencio es una de las plazas más emblemáticas de lo que es el centro de Caracas, además uno de los puntos de encuentro por excelencia para mí ya que ahí me he encontrado con muchos amigos, con muchos vecinos y conocidos. Ya que está relativamente cerca de donde vivo, que es en el Guarataro. Para mí esta plaza ha significado muchos momentos importantes e interesantes de mi vida. Allí siempre colocan esculturas muy artesanales y artísticas a lo largo del año para embellecer sus alrededores y además para tomarse fotos con semejantes esculturas que, aunque yo no sea un experto en Artes, sé apreciar cuando algo es bello.
Cuando era pequeño, siempre mi mamá me traía acá a sentarnos un rato cuando veníamos de comprar cosas del mercado y debíamos llegar a casa. Para mi, tanto la fuente como cada escultura que montan es una expresión artistica que siempre es algo bueno que mostrar de esta parte de la ciuadad que por tantos años se ha visto en vuelta en tantas historias de cosas negativas como delincuencia y malos momentos, pero este tipo de acciones hacen que podamos tener una perspectiva distinta y tener mejores momentos a compartir en dichos espacios.
Porque ciertamente cerca de esta plaza hay muchos negocios y restaurantes y la gente debe hacer vida en estos espacios todos los días y es necesario ocuparse de que sea un lugar digno de ser apreciado, por su historia, por su arte, por las personas que transitan por estas calles a cada momento.
Puedo decir que es un lugar que veo casi todos los días y que me complace cada vez que lo llenan de arte y lo mantienen limpio y bonito. Cuando paso con amigos o con mi familia intento que logremos descansar un momento en sus asientos y tomar un respiro cuando vemos la fuente y el agua fluyendo. A veces he visto artistas haciendo su trabajo de dibujar y pintar cuando son contratados. Y en las navidades también es muy bonito venir y ver todos los comerciantes con su producto y simplemente pasar el rato mientras los niños juegan con sus juguetes, lo he vivido con mi hija y eso lo amo muchísimo.
Por eso, cada vez que colocan una escultura nueva, siempre intento tomar fotos y registrar el arte que dejan ser apreciado todos los días, porque eso es vida para la ciudad y para todos los que vivimos en los alrededores.

O'Leary Square in El Silencio is one of the most emblematic squares in downtown Caracas, as well as one of my favorite meeting places, since I have met many friends, neighbors, and acquaintances there. It is relatively close to where I live, in Guarataro. For me, this square has been the setting for many important and interesting moments in my life. Throughout the year, they always place very artistic, handcrafted sculptures there to beautify the surroundings and also to take photos with them. Although I am not an expert in art, I can appreciate when something is beautiful.
When I was little, my mom always brought me here to sit for a while when we came back from shopping at the market and had to get home. For me, both the fountain and each sculpture they put up are an artistic expression that is always a good thing to show in this part of the city, which for so many years has been surrounded by so many negative stories of crime and bad times, but these kinds of actions allow us to have a different perspective and have better moments to share in these spaces.
Because there are certainly many businesses and restaurants near this square, and people must go about their daily lives in these spaces, it is necessary to ensure that it is a place worthy of appreciation, for its history, for its art, and for the people who walk these streets every moment.
I can say that it is a place I see almost every day, and I am pleased every time it is filled with art and kept clean and beautiful. When I pass by with friends or family, I try to get us to rest for a moment on its benches and take a breather when we see the fountain and the water flowing. Sometimes I have seen artists doing their work of drawing and painting when they are hired. And at Christmas time, it's also very nice to come and see all the merchants with their products and just hang out while the children play with their toys. I've experienced this with my daughter, and I love it very much.
That's why, every time they put up a new sculpture, I always try to take pictures and record the art that can be appreciated every day, because that's life for the city and for all of us who live in the surrounding area.
