This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge
On today's post, I want back to share some interesting insect shots that I found yesterday while I was walking around the bushes on the edge of the rice fields. The insect object that I am sharing today is the praying mantis, in Indonesia the praying mantis is known as "Bealang sentadu" which used to be a playmate for village children. Because apart from this grasshopper not being as wild as other types of grasshoppers, the praying mantis' character is also friendly to humans & can be played with, especially by children.
The praying mantis itself is a species of grasshopper in the Mantidae family, unlike grasshoppers in general which eat leaves, the praying mantis is actually a predator that can eat other types of insects such as ticks, flies, or even beetles. This is supported by the front legs which are like crab hands to grip their prey. I find this quite interesting because praying mantises can be friendly with humans, but they are actually predators in their own class. :)
