Esta semana traigo algo muy especial para el Hive Music Festival: una versión instrumental en guitarra eléctrica del tema principal de The Last of Us. Esta pieza, originalmente compuesta por Gustavo Santaolalla, tiene una fuerza emocional muy profunda, una mezcla entre melancolía y esperanza que siempre me ha tocado el alma.

Decidí interpretarla solo con mi guitarra, sin acompañamiento, dejando que cada cuerda respire y exprese por sí sola la historia que encierra la melodía. Hay algo mágico en este tema: logra decir tanto sin necesidad de palabras, como si cada nota contara un recuerdo, una pérdida o un rastro de amor en medio del caos.

Mi intención fue mantener esa esencia cruda, íntima, casi cinematográfica, que caracteriza la música de la serie. Jugué con los matices del sonido, con los silencios y la dinámica, buscando ese punto donde la emoción se vuelve pura y el instrumento habla por sí mismomismo.

A veces la guitarra se vuelve voz, otras veces es silencio. En ese equilibrio encontré el espíritu de The Last of Us: la belleza que sobrevive incluso en medio de la destrucción.

Los invito a escucharlo con audífonos, a cerrar los ojos y dejarse llevar por el sonido. Ojalá logre transmitirles la misma sensación que me produce cada vez que la toco: una mezcla de nostalgia, calma y humanidad.

This week I’m bringing something very special to the Hive Music Festival: an instrumental electric guitar version of the main theme from The Last of Us. Originally composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, this piece carries a deep emotional weight — a blend of melancholy and hope that has always moved me.

I decided to perform it using only my guitar, letting each string breathe and speak on its own. There’s something magical about this theme — it tells a story without words, as if every note carries a memory, a loss, or a glimpse of love surviving through chaos.

My goal was to keep that raw, intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere that defines the show’s soundtrack. I played with tone, silence, and dynamics, searching for that fragile point where emotion becomes sound and the instrument itself begins to speak.

Sometimes the guitar becomes a voice, other times it turns into silence. In that balance, I found the true spirit of The Last of Us: the beauty that endures even in destruction.

I invite you to listen with headphones, close your eyes, and let the sound take you on a journey. I hope it transmits the same feeling it gives me every time I play it — a mix of nostalgia, calm, and humanity
