One of the best things about playing Splinterlands is that there is always something new and exciting. Maybe it is the release of a new promo card, or maybe it is the release of some new DAO proposal. One of my highlights from this week playing Splinterlands is that I finally made it to gold in the Frontier format!! Not only am I proud of this personal accomplishment, but making it to the gold league comes with some pretty significant rewards that I want to talk about in today's post!
What is Frontier Format??
Frontier format is one of the best things that Splinterlands has done in a very long time. Players don't just earn Glint. Instead, they earn tradable NFT cards for winning matches. It's an absolutely fantastic idea, and it reminds me of the classic Splinterlands game that I fell in love with so many years ago. In addition to being a rewarding experience, Frontier format is a perfect entry point for new and returning players. There is a limited selection of cards, and the power level is reasonable. This makes it easier for new and returning players to jump into a match and have a fun, enjoyable experience without getting blown out of the water by someone who simply has a more expensive deck.
It's A Long Way To The Top
Even though Frontier format is a great entry point for new players, that doesn't mean that it's easy to climb up the ranks. I've been playing Frontier format almost every single day since it was released, and it has been a slow grind, slowly increasing my rating. But finally, last night I made it to the gold level, and I received some pretty impressive rewards.
For my league advancement reward, I received 15 different chests. I got some nice epic and legendary cards as well as some legendary potions. And, just as importantly, I got tons of energy to let me keep playing more matches.
But Wait....There's More
As amazing as the league advancement rewards were, they're not the best part of battling in the gold league. One of the things that I find most interesting about the gold league is that instead of earning individual cards for completing our daily quests, we now earn a foundations pack for every quest we complete.
Opening Foundations Packs
Obviously, I was pretty excited to start earning a full Foundations pack for each quest I completed. So, as soon as I made it to the gold league, I kept playing until I had unlocked a few packs. I was definitely excited to open these packs, and, I have to say that they did not disappoint.
The biggest pulls from the first pack were the Archon for the Water team and Giam Root. Giam Root is an amazing Earth unit that has 11 health and boosts the health of all friendly monsters. I've been hoping to get this card for a long time, and it's nice to finally have it in the collection.
The second pack wasn't as jaw-dropping as the first, but it still contained some nice cards that will be invaluable additions to the collection.
Join Me In Splinterlands
Although I have played Splinterlands for many years, I think this is my first time making it to the gold league in any format. I'm really proud of this accomplishment, but I'm also really impressed with the rewards that I received. Rising to the gold league and seeing the increased rewards that I got was a great reminder that Splinterlands is such a unique game. Players who commit their time and attention to the game and win matches have the ability to win tradable NFT cards as well as crypto currency.
