Splinterlands is an amazing blockchain based trading card game that allows players to earn rewards for winning matches. That being said, not all rewards are created equal. Sometimes it feels like I'm grinding through dozens of matches only to unlock a common card that is worth less than a few cents. During those times, it can be easy to second guess whether the time and effort are worth the payoff. But, every now and then, I pull a reward card that reminds me it's all worth it. In today's post, I want to share my experience pulling the Legendary Mystic Scaleweaver card from one of my Frontier chests.

The Background

I've consistently played the Frontier format for several weeks, and during the course of these battles, I've come across some really powerful cards. I've thought about purchasing additional cards to level up my deck, and one of the cards that I wanted to purchase was Mystic Scaleweaver. When combined with the Water Archon, Mystic Scaleweaver pumps out 3 magic damage and has the slow ability which reduces the speed of the opponent's team by 1. Especially in the Frontier format, where cards are less powerful than modern or wild, Mystic Scaleweaver has some seriously impressive stats. I had considered purchasing this card to add to my collection. However, the price was a bit of an obstacle.

At the time that I am writing this post, Mystic Scale Weaver sells for about $9.50. After thinking about it for a long time, I decided that even though it was a great card, I just wasn't ready to spend that much money on a single card. So, I decided to just keep grinding matches and hoping that someday I would find one of them in one of my rewards chest.

Rewards Jackpot!!

Well, apparently yesterday was my lucky day. I was playing a couple Splinterlands matches last night to unwind before bed, and guess what I pulled in one of my reward chests??? If you guessed Mystic Scaleweaver, you would be correct! I usually log off of Splinterlands after opening my final reward chests for the night, but after pulling a card that I had been looking forward to for several days, I couldn't just go to bed. So, I immediately decided to test it out in a match.

Mystic Scaleweaver's First Match

Once I finally put Mystic Scaleweaver into its first match, it completely exceeded my expectations. In the first round, it was able to knock out my opponent's Chaos Furybringer thanks to the Blast rule set, and in the third round, it eliminated my opponent's Vengeful Monk.

Not only did Mystic Scaleweaver directly eliminate two opposing units, it also slowed the opponent's team allowing my units to get in some first round attacks. My opponent put up a good fight, but at the end of the day, my Water team with Mystic Scaleweaver was simply too powerful and we secured the win!!

Join Me In Splinterlands

As you might have noticed, I am pretty passionate about Splinterlands. It's a game that requires strategy, tactics, and carefully selecting the right team to defeat your opponent, but there is more to it than that. One of the things that I like best about Splinterlands is that it rewards your time and commitment to the game.

As I mentioned at the start of the post, I had been considering purchasing Mystic Scaleweaver for about $10, but that the price was a bit steep for me. The beauty of Splinterlands is that it rewards players for their time and commitment to the game. Even players who have a smaller budget can level up their deck and earn meanignful rewards simply by winning matches. The best part is that this is a virtious cycle. Earning my frist rewards made my deck more powerful, which in turn, helped me earn more rewards.
