Fred Lakeman looked at the giant ruler in his hands and felt worried.
He walked over to the window and reflected on his sunny surroundings. He had always loved beautiful Sleepford with its homeless, hissing hills. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel worried. 
Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Lauren Jones. Lauren was a proud author with pointy nose and slim fingers.
Fred gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a remarkable, tight-fisted, port drinker with handsome features. His friends saw him as a giant, gentle gamer. Once, he had even jumped into a river and saved a knobbly old man.
But not even a remarkable person who had once jumped into a river and saved a knobbly old man, was prepared for what Lauren had in store today.
The drizzle rained like buckets of water, making Fred jumpy.
As Fred stepped outside and Lauren came closer, he could see the black glint in her eye.
"Look Fred," growled Lauren, with a selfish glare that reminded Fred of proud rats. "It's not that I don't love you, but I want justice. You owe me 2522 pounds."
Fred looked back, even more jumpy and still fingering the giant ruler. "Lauren, what a spiffing dress," he replied.
They looked at each other with ecstatic feelings, like two funny, fancy frogs boating at a very callous engagement party, which had piano music playing in the background and two witty uncles bouncing to the beat.
Fred regarded Lauren's pointy nose and slim fingers. "I don't have the funds ..." he lied.
Lauren glared. "Do you want me to shove that giant ruler where the sun don't shine?"
Fred promptly remembered his remarkable and tight-fisted values. "Actually, I do have the funds," he admitted. He reached into his pockets. "Here's what I owe you."
Lauren looked cross, her face blushing like a red apple.
She ignored Fred and went inside for a glass of port. Feeling satisfied that once again she had the upperhand. O men how easy they are.....
