1046 - Kabayan Benguet Lake Shots for Saturday.
A very happy Saturday to our fantastic Hive family around the world! This is our day to truly unwind and step away from our weekly routine. Hope you’re taking this chance to slow down and breathe deeply and do the things that brings happiness. Sending a huge wave of relaxation and joy to each and every one of you dearest Hiveans!
Moving now to our daily shots this time allow me to bring us back to Kabayan Benguet. By three o'clock that Thursday afternoon this month we had finally arrived at the Bulilit Homestay in Kabayan, Benguet with our reliable workhorse. The air was significantly colder here, a chill that signaled our arrival in the high mountains of Cordilleras. After dropping our bags, our first order of business was to head to the local ranger station to register for our trek to the famous four lakes since there's still time. There we got our local guide, a cheerful and young local woman named Gemma. Her warm smile and funny stories immediately put us at ease and felt confident we were in good hands.
We began our adventure by walking from the homestay towards the trail. The path started gently on concrete leading us to a simple gate that marked the official entrance to the trekking area to the first lake called Ambulalacao. Gemma pointed out along the trail some edible berries. She explained they were edible and picked a few for us to try. They were slightly sweet and sour wild snack that felt like a secret gift from the nature.
The hike to Lake Ambulalacao was a manageable climb. When we finally reached it, we spent some time there in awe while taking photos to capture the beauty and the silence. Then Gemma signaled it was time to move on to the second lake.
The trail from Ambulalacao to the next lake transformed as we entered a mossy forest and it was like stepping into another world. The temperature got colder and there was a thick and mystical fog began to roll in, clinging to the trees. The air was with moisture and the earthy smell of soil and decay were also present in the air. The fog swirled and limiting our visibility while creating an atmosphere that was both creepy and incredibly peaceful. It was indeed a mystical and unforgettable part of the journey and there is more to follow, soon😉.
