I proclaim loudly but without shouting, I proclaim without banners and without statistics, I proclaim without crowds accompanying me. I proclaim in my quiet corner where my trembling hands write the lines of my poems. My writing is no longer as straight as before, but it is still my voice. I proclaim then my right to make mistakes, to make spelling and grammar errors, to erase, cross out, and try again. I proclaim my right for my poetry not to always rhyme or have some appropriate meter. My history is full of crooked lines, and I am as proud of those lines as the straight lines. Every stroke, every word, every verse is a trace that proclaims its right to an imperfect but unique existence, an existence I once dreamed of. I proclaim then that the vulnerability of my kisses is sometimes disguised as weakness, but that in that vulnerability there is also the courage to exist. I proclaim that I have cried before the blank page and the terror it provokes. But if my past mistakes were seeds, today I am reaping their fruits, and many are sweet.
I proclaim that my voice echoes in my soul and no one hears it better than I do.

Proclamo a viva voz pero sin gritar, proclamo sin pancartas y sin estadísticas, proclamo sin multitudes que me acompañen, Proclamo en mi silencioso rincón donde mis temblorosas manos escriben las líneas de mis poemas, ya mi escritura no es tan recta como antes pero aún así sigue siendo mi voz. Proclamo entonces mi derecho a equivocarme, a cometer errores de ortografía y gramática, a borrar, a tachar y a volver a intentar, proclamo mi derecho a que mi poesía no siempre rime o tenga alguna que otra métrica adecuada. Mi historia está llena de líneas torcidas y de esas líneas estoy tan orgulloso como las líneas rectas. Cada trazo, cada palabra, cada verso es huella que proclama su derecho a una existencia imperfecta pero propia, una existencia que ya yo soñe. Proclamo entonces que la vulnerabilidad de mis besos a veces se disfraza de debilidad, pero que en esa vulnerabilidad hay también la valentía de existir, proclamo que he llorado ante la página en blanco y el terror que provoca. Pero si mis errores del pasado fueron semillas hoy estoy recogiendo sus frutos, y muchos son dulces.
Proclamo que mi voz hace eco en mi alma y nadie la escucha mejor que yo.
