Hey there, all. I hope your week is going great. It's another Friday, which means it's time for another Splinterlands Art Contest Entry. Lately, I've been feeling like drawing new characters, so I decided to give it a go and started looking for ones I haven't drawn yet. I stumbled upon Lorkus, and I knew that he was the one I wanted to draw for this week, since he had some features that I've been contemplating drawing for quite some time now.

Now with the general overview of this piece out of the way, I think it's time to dive right into the more detailed stuff. For those of you who are interested in the nitty-gritty of this piece, please keep on reading, and those who only want to know the general process of the drawing could skip or skim the Process section and get to the bottom of the piece.

The Process

Now, as with every other drawing, I started with the line art. This piece had a ton of details and intricacies, as you can see in the final version of the drawing, but as always, I tried to keep the line art minimal and add the details in the later stages.

As mentioned before, there were lots of colors to be used in the drawing, but for starters, I added only a few of the base colors as flat solid colors in on the subject.

With the initial coloring out of the way, I shifted the focus to shading and adding highlights -highlights come in the next stage. Now I almost always do them in parallel. You can't add some shading and be done with it entirely for the drawing. It's a back-and-forth process in which you add more shading or highlighting as the need arises.

Then, as mentioned, I added the highlights to the subject itself in this piece.

Then it was time to add the highlights to her body and give her body some depth and 3D-ness. Now you can see what I mean by the back and forth process, one has to progress a little so that the other one may continue, and it goes both ways.

Now, what was left to highlight and shade in this step was her hair, so I just did that. Drawing hair the way I do usually takes more than the highlighting (I need to add the white stray strands of hair to give them more fluffiness, but I think that sufficed for this step at the time, so I moved forward with the drawing)

In this step, I finally added the white strands of stray hair and the details on her eye artifact next to her, and almost everything was in place and ready for the "finalization" part.

The Result

And last but not least, I added the white and purple particles in the background and around the subject with some rays coming out of the floating eye machine next to her. As for the background, the initial flat color didn't cut it, so in the process of drawin,g I added some highlights and shades to that too and added some random shades of purple to avoid making it look so monotone.,,
