What do I see?: I see a rose flower slightly covered by the morning dew. It is the only surviving flower still attached to the stem. The other beside it has withered away.

What do I feel? I feel that the rose flower is trying to survive despite the harsh weather conditions and the predatory hands of men.

Rachel has been seeing Marcus for months. At first it looks like a casual date but with consistency between the two lovers it appears to be something much more than that. However, for sometime now Rachel has expected Marcus to spill the beans but he has not. At this point she does not know and cannot place exactly where their relationship was heading to.

On this fateful morning Marcus came visiting. It was a rare visit on a cold winter morning. As he was approaching the door of Rachel, she observed that he was clutching something behind him. As she opened her door for him she was very curious and has to lean back a bit for Marcus to walk in. Instead Marcus drew her closer and then presented a rose 🌹 which was neatly harvested that morning together with its stem.

Rachel was speechless. She gave out a surprise smile and gently took it from the hands of Marcus and then kissed him softly at the forehead. Both lovers then walked into the room with great laughter.

As both lovers say down in the only couch in the room Marcus began. My love, I brought you a rare gift this morning and I know you'll be wondering why I came with not just a rose flower but also the stem and even with a part showing a withered flower.

Well, the thing is this, you know we have been together for months now. You did not desert me because of my lack of wealth. He then pointed at the cut off rose 🌹 flower from the stem. You did not also wither away under my care as can be seen from the withered rose flower attached to the other stem. You did not get plucked by other men who were there and willing to provide more than me. You remained resolute and stood by me. At this point he stopped and started sobbing softly. Rachel held him and told him to stop.

When he managed to get himself he popped out the much awaited words: "baby, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you". Rachel held him closely and looked straight into his eyes and said 'yes, babe'!
