📚 ✂️La Magia de los Útiles Nuevos: ¡Una Pasión que Perdura!

El inicio de clases es una de las temporadas del año que más me emociona. Parezco una niña cuando se trata de ir por las listas de útiles escolares, el olor a lápiz nuevo, a borra y a papelería me enloquece y más ahora que hay tantas cosas kawaii (o como decían en mis tiempos *cuchi*, aunque no estoy segura de que signifique completamente lo mismo) para escoger. > ### **The Magic of New School Supplies: A Lasting Passion!** > The start of school is one of the times of year that excites me the most. I'm like a little girl when it comes to shopping for school supplies. The smell of new pencils, erasers, and stationery drives me crazy, especially now that there are so many kawaii things (or, as they used to say in my day, *cuchi*, although I'm not sure if it means exactly the same thing) to choose from.  --- ### ✨ **Un Legado de Paciencia y Creatividad** Luego de la compra de los útiles viene otra de mis pasiones, forrar los cuadernos y libros. Desde que era estudiante mi mamá me enseñó a forrar mis cuadernos y esto se mantiene como algo muy especial para mi. Todavía recuerdo muy gratamente a mi madre, joven, sentada en la mesa o en el piso con todos los materiales forrando con algún papel muy original, y sacando las burbujitas de aire del papel auto adhesivo con un pañito, con una paciencia admirable con la cual jamás le quedó una burbuja en un cuaderno, ni una sola arruga en las portadas. Para nada comparable con la falta de paciencia obvia en muchas oportunidades en las que me ha quedado: *¡Así como quedó!* > ### ✨ **A Legacy of Patience and Creativity** >After buying the supplies comes another of my passions: covering notebooks and books. Since I was a student, my mum taught me to cover my notebooks, and this remains something very special to me. > > I still have fond memories of my mother, young, sitting at the table or on the floor with all the materials, covering them with some very original paper and removing the air bubbles from the self-adhesive paper with a cloth, with admirable patience, never leaving a single bubble on a notebook or a single wrinkle on the covers. > > This is in stark contrast to my obvious lack of patience on many occasions when I have had to do it myself: *That's how it turned out!*  --- ### 🎨 **Personalización Extrema: De los Fetiches Temáticos en la Universidad** Realmente nunca en mi vida le he dado mucha importancia a los dibujos de las portadas como vienen los cuadernos porque de eso no queda ni rastro una vez que ya los he forrado según mis gustos.  En la universidad forraba mis cuadernos y carpetas, incluso el cartón del borrador "Nata", ninguna de mis pertenencias eran genéricas, nada de eso. Todo personalizado, creado por mi y según mi fiebre del momento.  Recuerdo una libreta de teléfonos (cosa que ya no se usa) qué forre con miniaturas de afiches de eventos humanitario, hermosa y representativa. En estos días estaba buscando algunos cuadernos y libros de la universidad para dárselos a mis hijos mayores que están comenzando a estudiar ingeniería igual que yo y encontré algunos de la fiebre en la que el motivo eran deportistas de la NBA y Ronaldo.  También encontré otros de otra fiebre personal donde todo era de rock e incluso encontré una carpeta forrada con fotos de Brad Pitt.  > ### 🎨 **Extreme Personalization: From University to Thematic Obsessions** > I have never really given much importance to the designs on the covers of notebooks because there is no trace of them once I have covered them according to my tastes. >  > At university, I covered my notebooks and folders, even the cardboard of the "Nata" eraser. None of my belongings were generic, nothing like that. Everything was personalised, created by me and according to my current obsession.  > > I remember a phone book (something that is no longer used) that I covered with miniatures of humanitarian event posters, beautiful and representative. > > Recently, I was looking for some notebooks and books from university to give to my older children, who are starting to study engineering like me, and I found some from my phase where the theme was NBA athletes and Ronaldo. ||||| |-|-|-|-| > > I also found others from another personal phase where everything was rock music, and I even found a folder covered with photos of Brad Pitt.  ---  ### 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Entre Normas Escolares y Obras de Arte** Sufrí muchísimo en el preescolar de los niños porque cada nivel estaba obligado a forrar los útiles con papel contác de un mismo color... ||| |-|-| Igual disfrute la tarea de forrar todo para ellos aunque fuera monótono y para sumar a la monotonía, es admirable para una madre pasar los márgenes dobles en todas las páginas de un cuaderno de 100 hojas hasta sexto grado.  Hay colecciones de cuadernos de mis hijos memorables para mi. Con obras de arte creadas por ellos, con dibujos de un libro de aviones de papel, con obras de arte escogidas en revistas de los museos.  También he encontrado ilustraciones muy originales en Pinterest para que ellos escojan las que les gustan y las impriman. Y les he creado en Canva algún diagrama con ilustraciones de la plataforma y personalizado con su nombre. Lamentablemente mi impresora tiene problemas técnicos y no puedo obtener un resultado de una calidad mayor. Pero igual hemos quedado todos bien contentos con los resultados. > ### 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Between School Rules and Works of Art** > I suffered a lot in the children's preschool because each level was required to cover the supplies with contact paper of the same colour... > > I still enjoyed the task of covering everything for them, even though it was monotonous, and to add to the monotony, it is admirable for a mother to go over the double margins on every page of a 100-page notebook until sixth grade. > > There are collections of my children's notebooks that are memorable to me. With artwork created by them, with drawings from a paper aeroplane book, with artwork chosen from museum magazines. > > I have also found very original illustrations on Pinterest for them to choose the ones they like and print them out. And I have created some diagrams for them in Canva with illustrations from the platform and personalised them with their names. Unfortunately, my printer has technical problems and I cannot get a higher quality result. But we are all very happy with the results anyway.  Aunque realmente me motivo contar la historia, brevemente te dejo algunas claves. **Materiales**: Cuadernos o libretas a forrar - Papeles con diseños - pega blanca - Papel contact o papel auto adhesivo transparente - regla - tijeras - paño pequeño de tela. **Pricedimiento** Tomar medidas en los papeles, tanto de diseño como auto adhesivo, cortar, marcar dobleces, considerar esquinas y centro. Pegar el papel de diseño, luego el auto adhesivo. Eliminar toda burbuja de aire muy bien. > Although I am really motivated to tell the whole story, here are a few key points. >**Materials**: Notebooks or notepads to cover - Patterned paper - White glue - Contact paper or transparent self-adhesive paper - Ruler - Scissors - Small cloth. >**Procedure**: Measure the design and self-adhesive paper, cut, mark the folds, and consider the corners and centre. Glue the design paper, then the self-adhesive paper. Remove all air bubbles thoroughly. |||| |-|-|-| --- ### 🤔 **El Gran Debate: ¿Forrar Libros o Respetar su Diseño Original?** The Great Debate: Cover Books or Respect Their Original Design? En el caso de los libros es diferente y quiero saber cual es la opinión de ustedes. Protegerlos con papel contác es crucial pero tengo sentimientos encontrados en cuanto a que, por un lado me parece muy práctico personalizar el forro para que sea fácil de identificar por los niños, por ejemplo en nuestro caso porque todos los libros se quedan en el aula. Pero también me quedo pensando que un libro es una creación intelectual, cuya portada ha sido diseñada por el un equipo profesional y debería conservar esas portadas visibles para la memoria de mis hijos, eso si, siempre con protección plástica del papel transparente. **¿Qué opinan ustedes? ¿Prefieren forrar los libros de textos escolares personalizados o debemos conservar los diseños originales visibles? Voy a confesarles qué este año las portadas de los cuadernos que compramos son irresistibles. Pero no, aún así mi afán por la originalidad supera el esmero de las editoriales de cuadernos que están haciendo cosas preciosas. Ya mis dos hijos mayores están en la universidad y aun no han comenzado las clases, yo les voy a proponer forrar sus cuadernos y libretas o que lo hagan ellos mismos a ver si quieren seguir la tradición. El tercero de mis hijos esta en 5to año así que todavía esta bajo mi dominio escolar obligatorio. Y con la pequeña me queda muchísimo de esta diversión porque tan solo está en 3er grado y disfruta tanto como yo de toda esta emoción. **Y a ti, el tema de los útiles escolares te causa estrés o emoción?
