A lot of people hear God's Word but only few actually listen to what it says. People may hear the Word of God by chance but when it comes to listening to His Word it is something that is intentional. One of the ways you can tell that someone hears God's Word but didn't actually listen to it is when the person goes on and continue in that which the Word of God kicks against.
The Word of God is something that is really crucial in the life of a believer. If we don't abide by the Word of God we might be misled by the enemy. The enemy knows how important the Word is especially to us as christians and that is why he would try everything to keep us distracted from it so that it would not have the positive effect it is supposed to have in our lives.
James 1:22 - But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
In as much as hearing the Word of God is good, it should not end there. We should go further to doing it as well. We should observe to do all that is contained in the Word of God. God is more pleased with such people than those who hear only.
James 1:25 - But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
The Word of God is something that we should live by. This means that we should live by the Word of God day by day. We should keep it in our hearts at all times so as not to forget what it says concerning us.
