Man as a social being relates in groups. These groups may be informed by one's social beliefs, religious beliefs, family background, personal ethics and all that. These were exactly what was at the back of the mind of Max when he entered high school. He comes from a not too rich background. He also attended a decent school before gaining admission into the prestigious Le Meridian Heights. It was his ambition to mingle with a different social class while still retaining his identity as someone from a poor background.
It was not an easy thing at first but with time max realized that he needs to cut down his expectations. He changed his mindset and that was what led him to join the clique he finally ended up with.
Soon, Max also realized that his clique were not even the best clique in school. The children of the bourgeois and tycoons dominate everywhere with their high-end lifestyle. They appear to be the best clique in school.
Max wanted to be relevant. He knows he can't compete with them materialistically. But he knows he has an edge over all of them. He has a God given talent, a talent which they do not have in like measure - intelligence.
Max looked carefully and crafted a niche of "the intelligent" for himself and a selected few. These were students that make As in virtually all the courses. Max and his 'select few' caught the attention of other students. Their clique started commanding decent respect and in no distant time they became the best clique in school.
