This is just like an opportunity for me to share how I have love Korean taste meal. Aside my love for Korean drama and movie.
It all started on a Friday afternoon when my colleagues decided we should go out for something different and unique I didn’t ask too many questions, but the moment we stopped in front of a small restaurant with sizzling smells coming from inside, I knew we were in for a food adventure.
The first dish they brought to the table looked harmless soft rice cakes in a red sauce. I thought, how spicy can it be? I took a big bite and instantly realized my mistake. The sweetness came first, then the heat rushed in like a fire alarm in my mouth. My colleagues laughed while I grabbed for water, waving my hands like that would quickly cool my tongue, though I love food been tasty but I still can't resist.
Next round was a small plate of vegetables with a strange but tempting smell. I was told it was fermented cabbage, something they eat almost every day. I hesitated but took a bite. At first, I wasn’t sure if I liked it, but with the next mouthful of meat, it made sense like it was like the backup dancer which makes the main star shine brighter.
The real fun started with the grilled pork belly. The waiter brought a small grill to our table, and we had to cook it ourselves. My colleagues showed me how to wrap the meat with lettuce, garlic, and sauce. My first attempt was a disaster the wrap fell apart before it even reached my mouth. Everyone laughed so hard that the guy at the next table turned to look at me and somehow laugh.
By the end of the meal, my stomach was full, my face hurt from laughing, and I had a new love for Korean food. It’s not just the taste it’s the experience of sharing it with people, making mistakes, and enjoying the fun along the way.
Absolutely I will try it next time, but I’m taking smaller bites just in case the fire in that red sauce is still waiting for me.
