𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝑫𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑻𝒉𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇

It's been a minute here. I might not have been sharing project for sometime now, but I was here reading a lot of entry to the community. I must confess the needle workers are talented. Please take your flowers! Today, I'm showing up with a vintage shirt I made over the weekend. Too often, fashion designers neglect to make outfits for themselves because of being too busy. I under it can be overwhelming meeting deadlines and styling others. The truth remains, we are our own runway, it is expected of us to show up looking good too. So no matter how tight the projects gets, find a little time for self, reward yourself, gift yourself with something you made yourself. I made a vintage shirt for myself and and black pant to pair. The outfit was inspired by the texture and print of the fabric. Immediately I set my eyes on it, I knew it would be perfect for a vintage shirt.  I made the collar like a blazer collar. Otherwise known as the lapel collar. This collar need maximum attention so it fits perfectly. All one need to achieve this kind of shirt is the bust, hip, waist and round neckline measurement, including the shoulder.  The block is often creating using the hip measurement and then altered with other body measurement. The neckline is achieved measuring the back neckline of the shirt and transferring it to the front. After inputting the necessary measurements, I cut and transferred to my fabric as seen in the picture.  Fixing the collar is another tricky thing. One need to get a precise measurement of the neckline, secure with pin before stitching.  Here's the shirt with collar. Next thing I did was to fix the sleeve. I wanted a short sleeve but my mom persuaded me to make a long sleeve. I ended up loving the long sleeve more.  Here I was joining the sleeve to the armhole of the shirt.  This is the final outcome. Let's take a lot at different angles of the beautiful vintage shirt.  I paired this with a black pant. It can be paired with skirt and shorts too.   I'm glad I made something for myself after so many months of procrastination. I will wear this to a fashion event this weekend and I love how simple and classy it is.   In a space of four hours and forty-five minutes, I could draft, cut and sew this to completion.
