Un saludo fraterno a toda la comunidad. Probablemente, como le sucede a muchas otras personas, ustedes nunca se han detenido a pensar en lo que quisiéramos ser cuando lleguemos a la ancianidad. Hay quien piensa que ya hemos vivido lo suficiente y que eso nos sirve para no tener que aprender nada nuevo, pero este tipo de pensamiento es erróneo.
Fraternal greetings to the entire community. Probably, as it happens to many other people, you have never stopped to think about what we would like to be when we reach old age. Some people think that we have already lived enough and that this will serve us well so that we will not have to learn anything new, but this type of thinking is erroneous.
Hace algunos días conocí a una señora de la tercera edad muy activa que todavía imparte clases de Física, aunque es metodóloga porque hay pocos profesores. Sin embargo, comenzó a aprender fotografía en el curso al que asiste mi hija. Esto le alivia el estrés y, además, ha aprendido a manejar una cámara, a componer, técnicas fotográficas, etc., lo que le ha permitido exponer en una galería sus bellas fotos sobre aves que ha retratado en Guanabacoa (Cuba). Estas fotos son de las más atractivas de la exposición, ya que las aves son difíciles de retratar porque se mueven mucho entre los árboles y cualquier ruido o movimiento pueden espantarlas.
A few days ago I met a very active elderly lady who still teaches physics, although she is a methodologist because there are few teachers. However, she started learning photography in the course my daughter attends. This relieves her stress and, in addition, she has learned to handle a camera, to compose, photographic techniques, etc., which has allowed her to exhibit in a gallery her beautiful photos of birds that she has taken in Guanabacoa (Cuba). These photos are among the most attractive of the exhibition, as birds are difficult to portray because they move a lot among the trees and any noise or movement can scare them away.
Tanto la exposición en la galería como sus alumnos me conmovieron: ver a personas mayores unidas y a un grupo de jóvenes exponer sus imágenes. Esta señora me expresó en una breve conversación que se sentía muy bien en las clases, pues había conocido algo nuevo y había aprendido a convivir con un grupo de personas muy afables que se unían como antiguos amigos, donde todos colaboraban entre ellos, sobre todo cuando iban en busca de buenas imágenes en lugares peligrosos y con caminatas difíciles para ellos, pero que la regocijaban tanto que las dificultades se convertían en una gran alegría. En total había cuatro adultos mayores. Esto fue como tener la posibilidad de hacer realidad uno de sus sueños: tener una cámara profesional en mano y tomar una instantánea de algo que nos emociona. Precisamente esto puede ocurrir en la tercera edad, exponer en una galería y ser admirados por muchas personas. Para mí, fue un día maravilloso. No entraba en una galería hacía años.
Both the exhibition in the gallery and her students moved me: to see older people united and a group of young people exhibiting their images. This lady expressed to me in a brief conversation that she felt very good in the classes, because she had known something new and had learned to live with a group of very affable people who came together like old friends, where they all collaborated with each other, especially when they went in search of good images in dangerous places and with difficult hikes for them, but which rejoiced her so much that the difficulties became a great joy. In total there were four older adults. This was like having the chance to make one of their dreams come true: to have a professional camera in hand and take a snapshot of something that moves us. Precisely this can happen in the third age, to exhibit in a gallery and be admired by many people. For me, it was a wonderful day. I hadn't been in a gallery for years.
Después de cambiar mi rutina de los sábados y pasar una tarde tan activa y didáctica, me he motivado a participar en el curso de fotografía móvil que darán en la galería en el mes de agosto, ya que necesito aprender a tomar fotos para trabajar, pues no enfoco muy bien. Aprender nunca está de más, no interfiere con la edad y siempre es útil nutrirse mentalmente con cosas nuevas. Con la fotografía se recoge una parte de tu vida y lo que está sucediendo queda para la posteridad; ella logra plasmar lo que no viviste y la época en la que estás. Esto es importante. A través de la fotografía se conversa en silencio y se redescubre el mundo, lo cual es lo más valioso que se expone en una galería engalanada con exposiciones fotográficas.
After changing my Saturday routine and spending such an active and didactic afternoon, I have been motivated to participate in the mobile photography course that will be given at the gallery in August, since I need to learn how to take pictures to work, as I don't focus very well. Learning never hurts, it does not interfere with age and it is always useful to nourish yourself mentally with new things. With photography you collect a part of your life and what is happening remains for posterity; it manages to capture what you did not live and the time in which you are. This is important. Through photography you converse in silence and rediscover the world, which is the most valuable thing to be exhibited in a gallery adorned with photographic exhibitions.
En esta exposición se habló del pasado y del presente, de la fauna, de los jóvenes y de los ancianos. Fue un viaje por nuestra ciudad y su vida, donde todos se unieron para disfrutar de lo nuevo y lo viejo.
In this exhibition we talked about the past and the present, the fauna, the young and the old. It was a journey through our city and its life, where everyone came together to enjoy the new and the old.
