Les cuento que que en mi ciudad de Santa Ana de Coro (Edo Falcón, Venezuela) existe un lugar donde la gran mayoría del gentilicio coriano va a hacer sus compras del hogar, negocio, artículos personales; en fin, una amplia gama de elementos necesarios para el día a día; dicho lugar, lo llamamos popularmente en mi ciudad: "Mercado viejo" de Coro.

El mercado viejo está conformado por un conjunto de calles antiguas de mi histórica ciudad que se cruzan en el mero centro del casco histórico de nuestra ciudad mariana y su nombre deriva no solo por lo antiguo que es, sino porque hace más de tres décadas que en mi ciudad , construyeron un mercado con gran diversidad de establecimientos al que llamaron: "Mercado Nuevo" , entonces este mercado popular se quedó desde entonces con la denominación antes descrita.

Cabe destacar, que el "mercado viejo" no digamos que es el lugar más bonito, estético y acogedor del mundo; pero es frecuentado por la población de a pie (incluyendome) por la oferta de precios más bajos en sus diferentes artículos comestibles y de otra índole, en comparación con el resto de comercios de mi ciudad, incluso el "mercado nuevo".

Yo por mi parte, una vez por semana acudo al mismo a surtir algo de despensa, lo que se nos haya terminado en casa y necesitemos con apremio (harina precocida, aceite vegetal, proteína) , ya que es más factible ir sustituyendo lo que se vaya terminando que acarrea menos gasto que esperar que todo se termine y exponerse a una compra que termina"incomparable" , debido a la inflación existente en el país.

Entonces, este lunes 15/09/25, inicio de semana, me dirigí al mercado viejo y las compras de algunos víveres que me hacían falta los adquirí en "los Arabitos" ( foto de portada) un establecimiento comercial donde hay de todo lo que busques y a buen precio competitivo.

Posteriormente, me dirigí a "Distribuidora Sami" el comercio que generalmente visito en dicho lugar para surtir mi mesa de ventas , en la cual, me hacían falta las golosinas que más procuran mis clientes, sobretodo los más pequeños de la cuadra y también los cigarrillos para muchos de mis clientes cafeteros que se deleitan en las mañanas tomando un cafecito rico, aromático bien caliente acompañado de un cigarrillo, muchos de ellos lo ven como la dupla perfecta, aunque sabemos que no la más saludable.

Luego de completar mi acometido con mis compras a primera hora de la mañana, regrese a mi mesa de ventas a atender mi clientela y por supuesto, a mis labores hogareñas y de disfrute como lo es ser autora de esta extraordinaria plataforma.

Fue un gran placer compartir con ustedes mi visita al emblemático mercado viejo a surtir despensa y emprendimiento, hoy día, mi sustento y el de mi par de hermosas mosqueteras y en el que tengo puestas muchísimas esperanzas de salir adelante y verlo crecer paulatinamente hasta convertirlo en un negocio próspero, variado y sólido en el transcurrir del tiempo.

I'm telling you that in my city of Santa Ana de Coro (Falcón State, Venezuela), there's a place where the vast majority of Coro residents go to do their shopping for home, business, and personal items; in short, a wide range of items needed for everyday life. In my city, we popularly call this place "Coro's Old Market."

The old market is made up of a group of old streets in my historic city that intersect right in the center of our Mariana city's historic center. Its name comes not only from its age, but also because more than three decades ago, a market with a wide variety of establishments was built in my city, which they called "Mercado Nuevo." This popular market has since then kept the aforementioned name.

It's worth noting that the "old market" isn't exactly the most beautiful, aesthetic, and welcoming place in the world; however, it's frequented by the average person (including me) for the lower prices on its various grocery and other items compared to the rest of the businesses in my city, including the "new market."
#
For my part, I go there once a week to stock up on groceries, whatever we've run out of at home and urgently need (precooked flour, vegetable oil, protein), since it's more feasible to replace what runs out as it costs less than waiting for everything to run out and risking a purchase that ends up being "unparalleled" due to the current inflation in the country.
#
So, this Monday, September 15, 2025, the beginning of the week, I headed to the old market and bought some of the groceries I needed at "Los Arabitos" (cover photo), a store that has everything you're looking for at a good, competitive price.

Later, I headed to "Distribuidora Sami," the store I usually visit there, to stock my sales table. I needed the sweets my customers most in demand, especially the little ones on the block. I also needed cigarettes for many of my coffee-loving customers who delight in the mornings with a delicious, aromatic, piping-hot coffee accompanied by a cigarette. Many of them see it as the perfect combination, although we know it's not the healthiest.

After completing my early morning shopping spree, I returned to my sales table to serve my customers and, of course, to my household chores and the joy of being the author of this extraordinary platform.

It was a great pleasure to share with you my visit to the iconic old market to stock up on groceries and start a business. Today, I support myself and my pair of beautiful musketeers And I have great hopes of moving forward and seeing it gradually grow into a prosperous, diverse, and solid business over time.
