Mañana, 8 de Septiembre es el día mundial de la Fisioterapia y el día de la Virgen del Valle. Si les cuento, hay mucha historia que contar.
He sido muchas Andreas en diferentes escenarios y en años. Desde la niña que sufrió bullying en primaria por convulsionar, era tímida y pequeña hasta adolescente dónde creía que me las sabía todas. También fui niña, aquella que cada que vez que llegaba está fecha iba a darle gracias a la Virgen del valle por mi sanación, mientras que mi hermano mayor tendría la edad que voy a cumplir ahora, 25 años y me cuidaba.
Ya crecí, ahora no soy "Andrea" la adolescente que bailaba en un liceo y se escapaba. Sino, una profesional de la salud a pesar de la situación país.
Conversaba con mi amiga de la infancia, Maritza, que ella si me conoce desde pequeña y sabe perfectamente porque escogí esta profesión del área de la salud porque en nuestros tiempos en primaria habían compañeras con condición o déficit de aprendizajes y nadie nos prestó atención, incluyendome. Ahora que soy adulta, puedo marcar la diferencia de lo que alguna vez necesité cuando niña.
Si bien es cierto, en Venezuela, el sueldo no remunera bien la calidad de vida por lo que tengo que trabajar de otras formas que no sea del área de la salud y tener como tres trabajos.
Me siento orgullosa de todo lo que he construido sola, ha sido difícil, igual acá estamos. Le doy gracias a Dios y a la Virgen del Valle, no por conmemorarse el 8 de Septiembre sino de siempre porque hay Sido mi tradición. También es un mes que ahora se considera prevención del suicidio y es curioso porque ahora tomamos más en cuenta la salud mental y bueno, también es el mes de mi cumpleaños.

I have been many Andreas in different settings and over the years. From the girl who was bullied in elementary school for having seizures, who was shy and small, to the teenager who thought she knew it all. I was also a girl who, every time this date came around, would go to thank the Virgin of the Valley for my healing, while my older brother, who is now the age I am about to turn, 25, took care of me.
I've grown up now. I'm no longer “Andrea,” the teenager who danced in high school and ran away. Instead, I'm a health professional, despite the situation in the country.
I was talking to my childhood friend, Maritza, who has known me since I was little and knows perfectly well why I chose this profession in the health field because in our days in elementary school there were classmates with learning disabilities or deficits and no one paid attention to us, including me. Now that I am an adult, I can make a difference in what I once needed as a child.
While it is true that in Venezuela, the salary does not provide a good quality of life, so I have to work in other areas besides healthcare and have three jobs.
I am proud of everything I have built on my own. It has been difficult, but here we are. I thank God and the Virgin of the Valley, not because September 8 is commemorated, but because they have always been my tradition.
