--- Congas like the bajara are presumed to be an evolution of the first congas. It's believed they were invented in Africa and then evolved in each country until they reached the modern form we all know. I think the most used model is the Latin American or Cuban conga, since it remained the definitive instrument for various local musical genres and later spread to other regions. For those who don't know how to play it, it's with the hands, of course, haha. Just kidding, yes, it's played with the hands, but not with the whole hand. It's commonly played with the fingers or the palm of the hand, since those parts generate the best sound, with the upper part creating the rhythm. They're almost always used in Latin music, but they're also used in the well-known jazz and some pop varieties. If you're wondering, they're made of artificial or hammered wood. This is how they achieve the best sound. But there are others made of metal and carbon fiber.
