La obra que les presento en este post es una pintura abstracta, que titulé MUJER. La técnica usada es acrílico sobre lienzo y la estoy exhibiendo en la sala Creadores del Intituto de las Artes de la Imagen y el Espacio-IARTES, en una exposición colectiva en la cual participamos 32 artistas mujeres. La inauguración fue el 13 de marzo de 2025. La obra en cuestión quiere básicamente realzar la esencia del ser femenino y la presencia de la mujer en las artes plásticas.
The work I present in this post is an abstract painting titled WOMAN. The technique used is acrylic on canvas, and I am exhibiting it in the Creators Room of the Institute of Image and Space Arts (IARTES), in a group exhibition in which 32 women artists participated. The opening was on March 13, 2025. The work in question basically seeks to highlight the essence of the feminine being and the presence of women in the visual arts.
La obra fue generada, en el taller de mi maestro de pintura, en donde una condición era que me sintiese con libertad de expresión. No hubo boceto previo. Dejé que fluyeran las líneas, primeramente de modo intuitivo, usando el color directamente sobre la tela, así que en un principio hubo una gestualidad que cruzó el espacio en forma libre de una esquina a la otra, pero que terminó conformando un esquema de composicion diagonal. Esto es en cuanto a la formas curvas las cuales suelen evocar una silueta de mujer, según mi parecer, y también según la experiencia estética que he podido comprobar en los espectadores que han visto mi obra, y con quienes he conversado. Por otra parte, se puede observar algunos degradados, así como superposición y fusiones de color.
The work was created in my painting teacher's studio, where one condition was that I felt free to express myself. There was no prior sketch. I let the lines flow, initially intuitively, using color directly on the canvas. So, at first, there was a gesture that freely crossed the space from one corner to the other, but which ultimately formed a diagonal compositional scheme. This refers to the curved forms, which tend to evoke a female silhouette, in my opinion, and also according to the aesthetic experience I've witnessed from viewers who have seen my work and with whom I've spoken. On the other hand, you can observe some gradients, as well as overlapping and blending of colors.
Sobre esta silueta, llamésmola así, se superpone otra forma semicircular, bastante centrada, que va de una esquina a la otra, ambas esquinas superiores, aunque en la parte derecha no llega a tocar la esquina. Esta otra forma evoca el símbolo que se usa en medicina para indicar lo femenino; quiero explicar que el símbolo al que me refiero es una esfera, desde cuyo punto más bajo sale una figura en foma de cruz.
Over this silhouette, let's call it that, another semicircular shape is superimposed, fairly centered, extending from one corner to the other, both upper corners, although on the right side it doesn't quite touch the corner. This other shape evokes the symbol used in medicine to indicate the feminine; I want to explain that the symbol I'm referring to is a sphere, from whose lowest point emerges a cross-shaped figure.
La paleta usada es esencialmente de colores primarios, buscando establecer una armonía cromática por contraste. En mi propia reflexión sobre esta pintura, pienso que el amarillo representa la radiancia, el brillo y la conexión con el poder del ser femenino, fundamentalmente con el alma.
The palette used is essentially primary colors, seeking to establish chromatic harmony through contrast. In my own reflection on this painting, I think yellow represents radiance, brilliance, and the connection with the power of the feminine being, fundamentally with the soul
El color rojo del símbolo femenino, llamésmolo así, simboliza lo que biológicamerite es la sangre de la menstruación, caracteristica única de lo femenino, y también está simbolizando la pasión, la energía de la creación, y el ardor por la vida.
The red color of the feminine symbol, let's call it that, symbolizes what biologically is menstrual blood, a unique characteristic of the feminine, and also symbolizes passion, the energy of creation, and the ardor for life.
El color azul evoca por una parte el elemento agua, la profunda y vasta inmensidad del océano, donde se ha gestado la vida en nuestro planeta. Al mismo tiempo simboliza el espacio infinito del firmamento, donde se ha originado la totalidad del universo.
The color blue evokes the element of water, the deep and vast immensity of the ocean, where life on our planet originated. At the same time, it symbolizes the infinite space of the firmament, where the entire universe originated.
Una vez terminado el trabajo, lo llevé a mi hogar y lo colgué en una pared por algún tiempo, sin exhibición púbica. Aunque me gustaban las formas, y la composición, sentía que los colores no tenían el brillo y la vibración que a mi gustaría que tuvieran. Entonces lo bajé y lo empecé a modificar, le puse pinturas más brillantes, agregando algunos matices para hacerlo más rico visualmente. Le agregué algunos trazos en el cuadrante superior derecho, que le dan sensación de elementos en movimiento hacia una dirección determinada. En la parte azul también añadí pinceladas suaves que dan esa sensación de movimiento.
Once the work was finished, I took it home and hung it on a wall for a while, without public display. Although I liked the shapes and the composition, I felt the colors didn't have the brightness and vibrancy I'd liked. So I took it down and began to modify it, applying brighter paints and adding some nuances to make it more visually rich. I added some strokes in the upper right quadrant, which give the impression of elements moving in a certain direction. In the blue area, I also added soft brushstrokes that give that sense of movement.
Al final, el cuadro me habla en general de la creación, de movimiento continuo de la vida, de contrastes entre lo grande y lo pequeño de los espacios y del tiempo, de lo finito y de lo infinito del cosmos, de esas cosas en las que no solemos pensar. Realmente espero ique quienes lo vean lo disfruten y puedan tener algunas reflexiones válidas para sus vidas.
In the end, the painting speaks to me in general about creation, about the continuous movement of life, about contrasts between the large and small in space and time, about the finite and infinite in the cosmos, about those things we don't usually think about. I truly hope that those who see it enjoy it and can have some valid reflections for their lives.
