Enjoy a unique traditional dish for a great new experience! Clear soup served in a coconut bowl!

My new neighborhood has access to the commuter train (KRL) to other cities, namely Jogja/Yogyakarta. I only pay $1 for a round-trip ticket. So I often travel to Jogja to visit new places.

The affordable KRL tickets certainly lead to a surge in passengers. Look at how many people queue before the train arrives!

And, as expected, I had to stand for the entire hour-long journey. I'm used to it, and it wasn't a problem. It was a fun experience!

I arrived at Yogyakarta Station right around noon, and my stomach was already telling me I needed to fill my stomach. So I looked for a nearby restaurant I'd never been to before.
Why did I look for a new place? Because I wanted a new experience. If we only visited the same places, we wouldn't have any new experiences.

Not far from the station, just a few steps away, there's a restaurant that's always busy with customers, especially people who have just gotten off the train. There's always a waiter calling or offering us a menu, leading us inside.

I was hungry and I'd never been to this restaurant before, so I went straight to it.
It looks simple. And what does that mean? Simple also offers simple prices. It's not pricey, so it's perfect for those on a budget when traveling.

They offer a variety of traditional Yogyakarta dishes. One dish that caught my eye was keliar show, served in a coconut shell bowl. So, I decided to order it.

To be honest, I was missing eating in a coconut shell bowl. I used to have a coconut shell bowl that I used to eat with my late mother. So, I was missing those moments. Oh, what a wonderful coincidence.

This clear soup may not look appetizing, as this is a simple restaurant. But you know, if food is presented with art, it increases the price. So, please don't complain about the simple presentation here.

Chicken clear soup served in a coconut shell bowl. The chicken soup is served with soft yet chewy vermicelli noodles. It also comes with the signature mung bean sprout filling of this clear soup.

It turns out that this chicken soup also contains rice. However, the portion isn't large, so it's perfect for me who doesn't want to eat too many carbohydrates. Since the vermicelli noodles are already included, there's no need to worry about not being full. I find this portion filling and comfortable for me.

Don't forget to top it with chili. The clear soup's flavor isn't overpowering, so if you like spicy food, you might need to add more chili.

Overall, the food was delicious, nothing to complain about, and I loved the experience of eating it in a coconut shell bowl. And most importantly, it cost less than $1, which is a great way to save money.
