This character captivated me with her design, and as I slowly learned about her past, I couldn't help but empathize with her.

To choose, the selection was not easy because I loved all the references I saw, but I decided to cheat a little because I let my boyfriend choose the one that best suited his taste and he told me the one that seemed most to his liking and so I got to work.

I started by choosing the materials and deciding which one best suited me. Obviously, it had to be wet media or something similar. I had to choose from watercolors, gouache, cold paint, oils, or some markers he recently gave me.

So this time, I decided on the latter. I used 200gsm textured cardstock for the support. To prevent the paper from wrinkling, I applied clear adhesive tape.

With a 2B pencil I divided the composition into 4 parts to distinguish where most of the weight of the drawing is, which in this case most of the details are in the heads, and I drew them.

I didn't overcomplicate this drawing because it didn't require much anatomy, so after I placed the heads, it wasn't difficult to place the rest.

The hardest part for me in this case was the faces. If you've read my previous posts, you'll know I can't draw anime-style very well.

Even so, I liked how the sketch turned out, so much so that I didn't want to add color; I honestly wanted to leave it black and white, but what's an artist if they never leave their comfort zone?

With a kneadable eraser, I erased the marked lines and began adding color, based on the skin tones, using at least four shades between pinks and light oranges.

Highlighting facial features. Well, since I didn't calculate the space correctly, the original reference lacks definition of anatomical features, I added them as a personal touch. I can use references, but I can't copy them exactly because it would take away from my artistic style, and it wouldn't make sense to pursue an artistic style and end up making copies.

Then I added the light base of the headphones and all of Luffy's clothes. I wanted to finish giving color to the first one and the bases of the hair color, which were a pink color.

Here I was already ahead and I forgot to take more photos of the process, but basically what I did was add the dark colors for the dark areas of the shadows, I did Luffy's hair with brown tones and Uta's with salmon, orange and red, then I outlined and applied a background.

And this was the final result of the details. I wanted to add some musical notes because the Uta fruit is the Uta Uta, which translated into Spanish means the song-song fruit.

My partner loved it; he was thrilled with his new drawing, and it's really hard for me to put into words the emotion on his face. What I can tell you is that I felt very happy, fulfilled, and overjoyed that he liked it so much.
