A weekee-greeting to all Hivers!! Lately I have been very active on Hive because I'm on vacations. Well, I kind of wanted to vary this time and try to draw a fanart instead of doing a 3D fanart :3
I am not really good at drawing and one of my necessary goals as an animator is to learn to draw without issues. Not to become a true artist at it but enough to do animations with details, smoothness and perspective because else... I'm doomed for traditional 2D animation style. And It is actually my favorite animation technique despite all. It's a pain to never have been interested in drawing as a child so now I have to force myself to enjoy the process of learning to draw... So to make it fun I need to find ways.
I have read professional books with scientifically proven methods to learn to draw like a pro in some months, but they never worked on me and I never truly gave them seriousness because I didn't believe in that I could make it, but I have a friend who is an amazing empirical artist which I asked about tips to help me with and she said: "Throughout my life I always practiced drawing, every day or every week, but the motivation to do it was caused by periods of obsession to some series, fiction character, videogame, movies, comics, etc. I always drew a lot of different drawings of the same thing I was obsessed with until I got tired of it and then when I got obsessed with something else did all that over and over again. It is something that really keeps you active and makes you enjoy seeing what you're doing". And it sounded actually really fun. I don't know if it is, from a general point of view, a wise thought, but I saw potential in that I could finally make it this time, of course only if I was consistent with it (that would have worked with the books but something was making me not enjoy it)
I will make this a series of 2D fanarts because I saw Holozing content as a perfect opportunity, mostly to keep track myself about how I eventually progress in drawing, and of course, because I like Holozing a lot :3
I will try to keep the design of the creatures always as close as possible to the originals because that's the main idea about all of this.
So this is my first piece! I called it "Woolio's gift", and I made it for the new Holozing cards #collection :3!
Woolio is one of my favorite creatures so far; it and its evolution always make me think of how creative their concept was. I wanted to make something cute, because it is very cute :3
I thought of something really simple, a sitting pose. Made a quick sketch of how I imagined it. I felt some touch was missing though... "Let's add something for it to chew on and see what happens" I said to myself.
I thought it looked peak-cuteness so I started doing the Line Art :3
I made it a flower!
Then went to the basic colors and shading.
Improved the shading.
What was left now were the final touches, like those light gradients in the design to make the shading more realistic and cool.
And finally the background. A very simple one.
The result here of course :D
For some reason PeakD turned the .png image into a .jpg and it's no longer transparent. I don't know why, it never happened to me before.
Well, hope you liked my card idea :3 (please tell me if I used the right card color, because I then realized Woolio was a normal type T-T)
My next post will be about the making process of some 3D Drazing evolutions, these being the Fire and Ice ones! So read you there, Have a good day :D!
