Last time, we visited my husband’s uncle—Uncle Gladson. He invited us and some of our relatives, including some who came all the way from Australia. We all gathered at his coconut farm in Tanjong Malim. It’s a quiet place, outside the city, and just a few meters away from their family house. That day was really simple, pero sobrang saya. When we arrived at the farm, I took a quick selfie. After we looked around the farm, we went to Uncle Gladson’s house. Their kitchen is simple and open, with banana trees outside. You can really feel na nasa probinsya ka. No pressure, no noise—just peace. Then, it was lunch time. The food was ready. The adults sat at one table, sharing kwento and laughing. We talked about life, work, and a lot of updates since we don’t always see each other.
The kids naman were at another table. I saw them laughing and enjoying their own conversation. Ang saya lang tignan. Walang cellphone, walang distractions. Just pure bonding and happy faces. What I love most was how chill everything was. No one was in a hurry. Everyone just enjoyed being together. Minsan lang ‘to mangyari, kaya sinulit na namin. Uncle Gladson is my mother-in-law’s brother. Kaya very close din siya sa family. Minsan, farm lang at simpleng kainan, sapat na. The pictures we took are now memories we’ll keep. Pero sa totoo lang, what made that day special was not just the farm or the food—it was the people. It was the laughter, the kwentuhan, the feeling of being together. We don’t need big occasions, masaya na. So if you have time, visit your relatives. Spend a day with family. Bring food, share stories, take pictures. Because these are the moments that really matter.
