This was our first house here in Malaysia, and it will always be special to us. One of the most memorable days we had here was my mother’s birthday. We didn’t plan a big party — no loud music, no guests. Just us, the family. We wanted it simple so she could relax, no need to feel tired talking to so many people. In the morning, we ordered her favorite food and, of course, a small but pretty cake. While waiting, we just talked, laughed, and sometimes enjoyed the quiet. I could see in Mama’s smile that she was happy even with a simple celebration. By evening, we all went down to the swimming pool. The kids were so excited with the pool water. And my husband was in the water, holding our two youngest children, making them laugh with gentle, playful splashes.
I stayed close with my camera, capturing each small moment so we could keep these memories in our hearts forever. Mama also stepped into the pool, holding the youngest in her arms. The air was alive with joy — the playful laughs of the children, Mama’s soft chuckles, and the splash of water all around. Parang music na talaga sa pandinig ko. We didn’t have fancy food or decorations, pero sobra-sobra ang pagmamahal na aming pinagsaluhan. That’s when I realized — real happiness is in moments like these: being together, no stress, just pure joy. That night, we went home tired but smiling. Simple man ang birthday ni Mama, it was wrapped in love and warm memories. I know it was the best celebration for her — being with family, full of laughter, and feeling free to be herself.
